hmm not really a race, but it was... different.
i was on my way home and i saw what looked like a old starion up ahead at a light. well there is a car behind him and two cars in front of me and we are both in the turning lane. he's first in line, and the light turns green. traffic starts moving and he crosses 3 lanes and flys up ahead. i get around traffic and i slide in behind him. as i get closer i noticed the car has 5 people in it. we turn on to the major road leading to my house which is a 4 lane road. as im coming up to the turn he mashes the gas and smoke pours outta the exhaust. i make the turn, and im going thur the gears easy, not pushing it. as im cruz'ing up i noticed that they have slowed down to, like 20 mph. i coming up and im doing 30 or so in 3rd getting ready to shift to 4th and i notice they are trying to keep pace. well up ahead there is traffic scattered in both lanes, so i know im not going to push it, so i keep it in 3rd and ride it out till i hit the speed limit or just a tad over. as im picking up speed, i here what sounds like a turbo, a pretty loud hissing noise, and they are pulling even. i just mash the gas and i slowly pull ahead and shift to 4th at 65mph. they start falling back and the black smoke is blinding the traffic behind them. after catching up and passing the traffic in front of me, they never caught up. it was kinda sad, but i didnt know what this guy was doing until he was pacing me from 25-30mph. i know think the car got over 50mph the whole time, and i heard them downshift when they got next to me. but it didnt help, just made a hissing sound and smoked real bad. just had to share...:)
