View Full Version : Best way to launch celica?
mystery

I did a search for this and i really couldn't find anything conclusive. I wanted to know the best way people have found to launch their celicas - GT, and GT-S (just to make the thread more useful.)
I've tried a lot of things, but until i get a Blitz power ID or a power meter i only have the seat of my pants (no drag strips here, just corn fields  )
Best for me seems to be to slip the clutch a little up to about 3k and punch the trottle (if i don't slip it a little i get tons of wheel hop).
Anyway, i know it is more of a preference/car and mods specific thing, but some oppinions would be nice, nonetheless.

hey
This is the easiest way for me to launch
I used to do this on the streets.
1) Rev to abot 5K and hold foot steady there
2) SLowly let go of the clutch until the car starts moving
3) after it starts rolling forward, slam the gas and let of the clutch at the same time
4) Hopefully your tires will spin for a sec the your off at around 5K rpms
Now doing this at the track does not work because the track has WAY better traction. You wont' get wheel spin you get wheel hop instead. This is waht I want to try next time I go to the track
1) Rev to 3K
2) slowly let go of the clutch while applying gas, your car will pull forward and squish you against the seat
3) when the clutch is fully engaged slam the gas down
4) it should be near 6K rpm if you do it right, with no wheel spin
but of course, I never done this at the track :) I really want to cuz I only went to the track once and I sucked bad on launching :(

you can launch at 5000rpm at the track too. might want to lower the tire pressure in your front tires (like to around low 20s) to help get traction.
