Guys,
Is there a highly noticeable brightness difference between underbody kits that use a built-in transformer in each tube (such as Lite Glow's Lite Glow line) and those that use an external transformer (such as Lite Glow's Low Glow line)? If possible, could you post comparison pics?

Thanks in advance,

Either go with Low Glow or Street Glow Gold Series. If you are going to do it go with the best.

I have beat the hell out of my StreetGlow Gold kit and its still ticking after a year of abuse. Mine seems bright but it also depends on what color you get. I have white.

A friend of mine has had trouble in keeping his front neon from breaking all the time.

Neon seems to be sensitive to the vibrations and shocks..
I have some plan that I'm doing for undercan light kit... that would be vibration and shock proof.....
But just my ideal for now...

Thanks for all the opinions, but I still really don't know the answer to my original question of whether self contained transformer tubes are less bright than external transformer tubes. Help?

They are same...
It varies little from different type or brands of the transformer....

Ok, then for the last bit of confirmation. You are saying that if I went with, for example, the Street Glow Gold Series in blue and the Street Glow Blue Series in blue, they would be roughly the same brightness, the only difference between the two kits is that the Gold Series has external transformers, and possibly a little better durability?

i have street glow blue line series (in yellow) and a buddy of mine in my team has street glow gold series (in yellow) and ours are the exact same. only difference is i had an easier installation with the built in transformers... AND i saved around $50 =) go with the blue line.. they're made by street glow and they'll back up the warranty as long as they're installed correctly. suspension shouldnt be a problem.. mine have never cracked.. even with the front bulb mounted in a REALLY weird place, seeing as i have a body kit that doesnt do well hiding the bulb!! but yeah, to answer your question, there is no difference really in brightness. and as for durability.. they're neons--if you mess up and run over a curb while parking.. of course they're going to break. so my suggestion is.. go with blue line (cheaper and easier installation) and be careful as you would with any other series of neons =)

I disagree. Having delt with neons for quite a while. (and many different sets) I would go with the gold series just for the better warranty (it is better than the blue series), but unless you have a bodykit your side tubes will show........that is why I got the Low Glow. When I got it I didn't have a body kit and the tubes are less than 1" thick in diameter so the tubes didn't show.

I'm not too satisfied with Street Glow...I've had 2 lights burn out in less than a year and I don't have them on all that much. Also, one of my side neons got shattered and the wire has been severed. So I'm looking at Lite Glow or something different. No body kit here, maybe I'll check out Low Glow.

I've heard from a reputable shop that Street Glow are crap.. I am getting a custom kit installed in the spring that is the same neon tubes that is used for outdoor signs in store fronts. Much more durabe, brighter and more shatter resistant.

okay, well it seemed to me that he was asking what was the difference between blue line series and gold series.. so thats what i was responding to. low glow IS in fact very bright, but all i was doing was comparing the two STREET GLOW types. but as for warranty.. its the same.

For those people who knows about neon underlight kit...
What do you think of underlcar light kit that is shock proof, vibraition proof... and won't burn out... that will last 100,000 hours??
I'm doing extensive research and will do prototype around January...

Liteglow isn't all that great either. My girlfriend's kit just stopped working one day, front tube burned out. 4 months after install. I've personally had 3 tubes go bad on their interior neon stuff. And several of my friends have had problems with water leakage into the underbody tubes.

Not to mention Liteglow has the worst warranty and customer service. I used to be a Liteglow dealer. It takes them forever to do antyhing about defective stuff, and nobody there knows what the other person is doing. I had a kit get damaged during shipping to our shop. This was in March, UPS sent the kit back in March. It is now December and we still don't have the replacement. 150 calls, 6 customer service reps, and 1 manager later, I find out that "nobody ever entered the return authorization into the system" This was after all 6 of those customer service reps assured me that they had it taken care of and "the replacement will ship tomorrow".

Sorry, a little frustrated with them right now.

But supposedly the external transformer tubes are brighter. And I've seen some pics where the ones with external transformers were brighter. This was with Liteglow and Plasmaglow.

i believe brightness aka INTENSITY depends on your power - its it full capacity and not taken up by other drainage such as an audio system? is the power band a smooth constant flow of electricity? ask yourself the practical questions and then go with STreet Glow GOLD SERIES cuz it owns - i did research on it!

Another issue: if you have ABS then built-in transformers can mess it up by EMI. Separate transfomer locates the EMI source far enough away (engine bay) that you don't have to worry about it.
