this has been asked before. and yes, i am aware of the search feature on this website. but i can't figure this out. if your celica is your daily driver and you have to drive in both rain and snow, is a short ram intake better than a cold air intake? i've heard things about ... hydrolock? i'm not sure. but it makes sense if the cai goes through a puddle or anything, you have some major problems. so, does the short ram give similar benefits in tone quality and power improvement as the cai without the risk of water? i know the question is poorly worded, i just need some help getting the facts straight thanks!

the short ram vs cai...
well as far as sound the cai is going to be a little louder. cause the short is silence'd but the hood and such, but its going to be louder than stock filter. im sure there may be a little difference in gain in hp too. the short ram is getting warmer air from the engine bay and a little from the outside air being channel from the areas air can get to the short ram. the cai is a pretty much straight shot to the outside air. as far a getting wet, as long as the cai is not dunk'd under water i think it will be ok. just dont drive hard in hard pouring rain and it should be ok. the short ram... you should have no problems, unless you try and drive through 3 feet of water.
