Let out the clutch a little slower (called slipping the clutch)

thats the torque and power of the car a wider softer tire will help so will bigger rims

If you're at the track lower your tire pressure to 20 and you won't get any wheel hop.

damn, this sux. I have this problem when I'm laucnhing, but I pretty much took care of it by figuring out what to launch at. For me, I launch at 3200, and slip it a little. I almost get 0 wheel hop, which is good, but you just have to learn what's good for you w/ ur launch technique. You'll figure out, but lower the tire pressure and try that. just make sure they have a pump 'fore doing it.

Thats a front drive car problem. Stiffer springs and suspension stuff and more rubber on the ground will help. You just have to keep the tires from breaking loose. It is actually better in a launch for the tires to slip a little as long as it isn't too much. But wheel hop is not exactly good for your car either. Try stiffer springs and see what happens.

Yes, it seemed to me that the suspension helped the most. Beauty about the TEINs is that you can adjust the stiffness and at its most stiff setting, I got no wheel hop at the track when I ran it a loooong time ago ... and I'd drop the clutch .... no slippin. But you might not have the $$$ to shed out for a set of em so do the tire pressure thing, its fo free!

This can't be right. I have skinnier tires on smaller rims, and I can't get my wheels to hop if I try to.

my wheels would only hop sometimes when i had my stock 15" rims and tires on. when i got 17" rims with 215/40 tires there was never any wheel hop. im assuming that the wheel hop also depends on how hard or soft the compound of your tire is, because it seems a lot harder for me to do a good burnout with my stock tires (maybe its just me)

Celica2k is right, Ive felt the same the stock tires seem to be really soft thats why they run out so fast, I use them at the track untill they run out then I'll trade them for some BFG Drag radials.

now i'm in no possition to be giving any advice, but a friend told me that wheel hop had alot to do with the movement of the motor trying to turn when there is alot of torque. for example, when you are looking at the motor with someone revs it up it usually turns a little bit. well, this is made for a smoother ride by the dealership. But it also can cause wheel hop in high torque situations. because inbetween the wheels gripping and not gripping, the engine will turn quickly and then jerk back, drawing the wheels off the ground a little bit, then back to the ground to repeat the process over again, <hopping>. so get stiffer bushings for the motor brackets and it might help out.

Can't the poly eurethane motor mount inserts help a lot too?
