LoL, that's cute. I think it should be when you registered. But, 1st thing most people will look at is the amount of post you have made, which doesn't matter because they could be 50% pointless bs. I know I've had my fair share of "bored" topic. http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

hmm...well, this was meant to be a rhetorical question...but since there are some serious answers posted, I'll give my answer.
There's no certain amount of time that has to pass. Once you no longer ask questions like "what kind of hyper white bulbs are good?", "how can I get that HID blue look?", "what's the butterfly valve?", "what's the difference b/t an intake and a cai?"...etc. Once you stop asking "beginner" questions, once you start to give the advice rather than ask for it, then you're no longer a noob. Of course people will never know everything, but there's a big difference between asking "what size rims will fit the celica?" and "should I run a 75 or 100 shot of NOS?". The latter question basically says you already know what you're doing, you just want some opinions.
Oh, and the number of posts also say something. Usually, those with the posts up in the thousands know their ****...with the exception of FIFI. But some with posts in their hundreds know just as much...so...posts can be a good indication, but not in every case.

you think I've only been here since April?!
I've been reading this board since early 2000, for at least 18 months now. Back and forth from here and Celica.net. I decided to actually register in April because I decided then that this site was much better than Celica.net.
Whatever, you guys think what you want. It's all good. I started this thread as a joke. And it's gotten serious. Anyway, no flames intended here.

It has nothing to do w/ how many questions you ask. Larry D still asks questions to people. It comes down to the point of when you understand what people are talking about. You never find out answers until you ask questions.

I am definitely still a newbie. I post a lot because I love the board and do my best to contribute to the threads in different forums. But there is so much I still have no idea how to do. One day I want to learn how to take my engine apart and put it back together. Same with the transmission. Well at least have a better understanding of them... that would be nice. <IMG SRC="http://www.plaudersmilies.de/specs.gif" border=0>

I believe you stop becoming a noobie is when you are able to stop asking the simple questions like "what's a butterfly" and "which intake is better" and be able to come up with good interesting topics to get everyone interested.
Another thing is when you have some professionalism when answering questions. Its kinda sad to see when you have someone who comes on this board and who wants to act like an @sshole. (Ex: All the noobies in OT after Aug 2001)

Or maybe when you generalize that all of us who registered after Aug. are *******s or spell newbies like "noobies". http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/wink.gif
Most of us who truly come to sources such as this seeking help will be as polite as possible simply because you have something we don't: knowledge. It's only when we get crap do we inadverantly become @ssholes. I personally don't take alot of the things people say too seriously, because I am aware of the age group that this car attracts, and therefore, sometimes the maturity is lacking. I understand that. Some people can't sift through the crap to get to the info, and in turn get pissed off about it.
To answer the question, I think that you cease being a newbie when you become able to take the knowledge that was given to you, and pass it on to someone who was once in your shoes. Remember that folks.

Honetly O agree with Johan about the post!!!
And secondly, a newbie is someone who asks these questions:
1.) When are you a "noobie"
2.) What kind of cloths do you drive in your celica with?
3.) Will a Celica get me girls?
4.) Will this void my warranty?
How to spot a newbie?
Screen names like these:
1.) PimpinINmyCelica
2.) Big Celica Pimp
3.) FastandtheFuriouswasReal
4.) VVTLiisWayCool
If you spot screen names like these people above... slap them for making us Celica people look like low trashy hoodlums.
And by the way... you're not a newbie anymore when you goto bed at night thanking god for David Draper!

To Johan,
Ajax forever!!!!
Peace man,
Fin
