It has come to my attention that alot of people on the site are running into problems logging into the site and staying logged in to post topics. If you dont know what Im referring to this should explain..

"the site is taking me to where i want to go but it won't let me post anything nor create new threads....

it keeps saying that i am not logged in and takes me to that screen that loggs a user in and when i do enter the correct info (user name & password) it acknowledges me and says thank you for logging in and then takes me back to some message saying i am not logged in when i try to post again..... "

Im still working on why this is happening but I have a gist of how to fix it in the mean time.. its a pain but it works..

first off go to user cp -> edit options

you will see this..

Browse board with cookies?
Clicking yes will use cookies to keep your id for this session. Clicking no will send it through the links. (Selecting no may cause problems when sharing links with people behind the same proxy as you)

odds are you have it set to yes which normally it should be set to yes.. change that to no and click submit modifications

i know you have to keep logging in like 5 times to get through this process but it does solve it in the end.. this will allow you to browse the board on the same session after you have logged in once.. only problem with that is the board doesnt seem to be creating a cookie which means that when you close the window and reopen the forum in a new window it will no longer see you as logged in, meaning youd have to log in again. This is a minor thing that I can fix as soon as I figure out why its not creating cookies.

if you have any ?s about this or any idea on why Vbulletin isnt creating a cookie please email me at larrydougherty@yahoo.com or IM me at co00lguy

what happens?? a banner program we had tried to start installing might have caused those problems, Ive removed most of it and make sure you are using the correct link.. the link directly to the forum is

some page pops up and says that the forum is having some sort of difficulties and that an email has been sent to da technician.

yeah that basically means that the database that the forum runs off of has crashed again and Cruzer needs to rebuild it.. seems to happen way to often. We are trying to figure out why..

Larry, the direct link is index.php? I had it set to that, but it kept redirecting me to index2.php, so I reset my link to that. now I can't access the forum from that link, but can get to it by going to the home page first and clicking on forum.

Ok the last 2 posts I have responded to it comes up and tells me there is a problem with the database and to hit refresh. When I do so then it says thanks for replyin blah blah blah and shows me my reply. It's weird though, it doesn't actually show that I have replied when you are looking at all the topics though like where it says "last post by" or "replies"

Jesse.. the direct link is index.php.. it was being redirected to index2.php for banners but we ran into problems and i just changed that back..

as for database issues.. i really wish I knew.. we seem to be having an issue with the databse index being created and updated.. working on it as we speak..

Well actually, I fixed everything, but VBB still seems to currupt the database files. No other web site I have has this type of problem, and the database engine doesnt crash, only the database.

Someone seems to be changing the config files, they are different everytime I look at them.

It was for keeping track of hits, didnt have anything to do with banners.
