ok here is my problem and it forgive me if i go over w/ the details.

I've had this problem where i use to get a squeaky fan type noise when my clutch was enganed but would disapear when i disengaged it. it took toyota like 5 times before the problem was finally fixed.

then my car started making the metal grinding noise when i reved her to about 5 to 6k. kinda like if you took a spinning metal plate and took a nail and slowed it down by pressing against it w/ the nail( best explaination of noise). i told them about it a long time ago that i could on hear it in 4th aroung 80mph but they said they couldnt reproduce the sound and would not go that fast.

finally three days ago the noise began happening in all gears around 5 to 6k and a new noise started coming out of the shifter itself. if i played w/ either the shifter or the clutch the sound would come and go.

dealer finally hears it and replaces my clutch under warranty. got it back today and my clutch feels totally different then it use to which is something i expected, miss the old feeling but can get use to it

anyways. long story short the noise started AGAIN. I dont know what to do now. i technically can lemon law it because its been in and out of the dealer 7 times now for the same problem or system anyways. I can always keep taking it back every three months to get the stupid problem fixed.

i really dont want to lemon it in fear of the 02 new ecu and gearing. i dont want the hassle of the court stuff either...

does anyone know what the hell is going on w/ my car or am i just being paranoid?????

thanks

Does it make the noise when you're accelerating or decelerating? Mine makes that same noise when I slow down in gear. I think it has something to do with the transmission not the clutch.

if there is any gear grinding when itz in gear and ur not switching gears, u may wanna have the transmission itself checked out.

yea it does it when its accelerating or more often decelerating. thats what i'm thinking thats it is the transmission, but i dont know why it would be making that noise...

anybody else got any ideas???

try taking it to a reputable transmission shop in your area and just see if they will give u an estimate and have them write down whats wrong. take that back to da dealer and say, look something really is messed up and u need to take care of it before i got to an attorney. i mean only do this if ur still on warranty cuz i dont see how a tranny will just start doing that if uve been driving it right.

I think that it's really strange that they replaced the clutch under warranty. The clutch is not be covered under warranty.

The dealership that you have been taking it to is supposed to have qualified technicians who should be able to trouble shoot the problem and fix it for you, but they obviously don't. What you really need is a competent mechanic to fix it for you, and the since you've had your car at the dealership 7 times now for this same problem, I would suggest that you take it to another dealership.

see i've been trying to explain this to toyota for 5 or 6 months. i take it to this dealership because they know me and i know them the other dealerships are too far. they contacted SEC toyota last time i they told them to replace my clutch. supposedly SEC takes a celica and tries to duplicate the problem and then give the dealer a solution. thats how they learn i guess.

they gave me a new clutch cause the they thought that was the problem, its not, i'm not complaining i got a new clutch for free.
my car has 22k so it is a warranty thing. short of my clutch i dont know of any thing having to do w/ my trans. that cant be covered under warranty.

i've been driving a manual since i got my liscence 5 yrs ago so i know i'm not the problem i went 50k w/ my old car w/ no probs. and i drove my civic alort worse then i drive my celica.
