The Mazda KL series engine is the series of engines found in the Ford Probe GT, Mazda MX-6 V6, Mazda Millenia, etc. they come with approx 170hp and 156lbs of TQ.
I stumbled on this because they achieved 800hp on this motor with the stock crank, and aluminum heads. Not to mention that this mazda is kicking V8 ass in Australia.
Check it out if you are intersted.
1400cc injectors!

800hp that's it? (for a 2.5L V6 that is)... i've seen a 3SGTE pushing 1000+hp on stock internals (2.0L 4 banger for those not familiar with it)... running on methanol of course... cool setup on that mazda though...

With toyota everything comes back to the 3s-gte, the celica guys swap it in, the camry guys, even the supra guys, toyota should take a ****ing hint.

I read the article? 800hp thats it?
It's 800hp to the wheels and the engine runs cool and reliably. They have not had any problems thus far.....it's not all about Horsepower, it;s about HP and TQ curves with a alost FLAT tq curve and it REVS to 9500rpm, not bad for a turbo application.
This car is over 3 seconds ahead of it's competition, and yes a 3sgte and an sr20det are in it's class but this car blows them away by over 5 seconds.

it doesn't matter whether i read the article or not. that car is NOT a stock ford probe or mx6... it is a purpose built car, im talking about a 1000+HP 3SGTE which sits in a STOCK mr2 chassis built by toyota.
i'd like to see someone try putting the motor you posted on those pictures under your probe's hood... hah! fat chance...
i guess it is impressive for you guys, but nothing really new in the world of forced induction...

Your right, it's not.
So basically what your saying is that just about every car on here is slow, with the exception of a couple GTS's w/Nitrous oxide...that blow their engines becasue the compression is too high on the gts for extended use. ****, even the guy with the GT blew his engine and the car only had like what 50k on it?
Ill be running high 106mph+ traps and low 13sec, high 12 sec ET's by Spring when I strap on my custom Supercharger kit that is just laying in my garage. We can talk fast then.
Supra? Looks like a Freakin integra with a REALLY bad Supra wide body kit.

Regardless, it does not matter.
Purpose Built you say?, SO you think that every other car in the that Aussie class is not purpose built for racing?
Toyota and Nissan are both contenders in that class, and they are using their flagship (3sgte, sr20det) motors in that application, and they are'nt winning.
And, that is my engine right there, just stronger pistons rods, and machined head..stock bottom end...the engine mount points are all the same so there is no reason why it would not bolt up directly into my car.
They already have working Twin turbo and single turbo appplications for the 2.5l on the road for years now.
i guess it is impressive for you guys, but nothing really new in the world of forced induction...
Im not the only one who thinks it's impressive, im sure every other car on that circuit thinks it is impressive as well becasue it is over 3 seconds fatser than ANY other car in the circuit, it's not #1 for nuthin!

um, no... if you look closely at those pics, the motor sits north-south, and it seems to be driving the rear wheels. and even if they retained the stock mounts, that means absolutely nothing. are you saying you can fit that engine in a FWD probe? come on mike, don't make yourself look bad here... those 2 turbos wouldn't fit under the hood of a stock probe without having one go through the radiator, and the other go through the firewall into the cabin... let's start sounding reasonable again...

again, it doesn't matter, those custom turbo kits are far from making 800HP street legal probes...

when i said it might be impressive for you guys, it was just to say how one appearance of this motor, in a very particular class (which i am not familiar with), makes you guys think it is actually better than the proven champs of all times (3SGTE/4G63/SR20DE/etc)... again, nice job on that engine, but it's nothing that hasn't been done before and better...
peace.

If your turned those exhaust manifold upside-down, and reangled them JUST a bit, they would fit fine..I have had headers on my car that were larger than that...a custom y-pipe would be easy.
As far a FWD, sure 800hp would be a real issue, it would fit, but traction would be a real issue... UNLESS..in Austraila they have a 4 wheel drive gearbox Mx-6 (same platform)...get the gearbox and differential and you would be straight...would have to remove the spare tire well though, and reroute the exhaust... but that only if you want 4WD..otherwise it would work with FWD...but it would be very powerful, too much for fwd.

again mike, no... you're talking about a different setup... a 3SGTE with over 1000HP WILL fit under a stock MR2 chassis... there's a good reason why no one has put the engine on the pics you showed under the hood of a STOCK probe... let's drop it here... the crank migt have potential, but it's nothing that can be done easily or cheaply on a stock probe...
