GT vs MR2 wannabe?

So Im chillin' at a light waiting for it to turn green when this MR2 pulls up next to me, or so I thought. I look at the rear because she must've been in a hurry and was way ahead. So I look and its a Mercury Caprice XR2, and I just bust out laughing at this MR2 wannabe, the body style of the car was almost the exact same as 2nd gen MR2. The light turns yellow on the other side of the road and she inches up further almost so that the traffic coming the other way has to go around her. So the light turns green and I drop the clutch and dust her. I look back and shes hardly moving. So much for running like an MR2.

Does anyone know the specs on that car?

How did a Mercury Caprice XR2 even look like an mr2? did it have a body kit or something?

That's a Capri, not a Caprice. From Edmunds, it was out from 91-94, with the XR2 being a turbo'd 1.6l pushing 132HP, 136lb-ft, at 2404lbs, FWD.

I think it looks more like the 1st gen MR2.

I didn't look this up anywhere, but a Mercury Capri, is Mercury's version of the Mustang. I don't think it looks anything like the MR2. Maybe someone should post a pic of this thing. Maybe the Turbo one looks diferent from the 5.0L one, or the regular 4cyl.

She probably wasnt racing me but she looked like wanted to pull out real fast. I just wanted to pull out faster. I didnt see a turbo decal on it, so I dont think it was turboed.

I meant 1st gen MR2, I dont know my MR2 gens
