Break-in period is over (1156 miles) and I did a couple long freeway trips with my celica so far. When I'm going 80MPH on the freeway in 6th gear my RPM's are at 3700~3750 and my motor is buzzin' pretty loud. It seems like I'm racing the engine. I thought 6th was like a gas saving gear?

3700~3750 sounds about right, but the buzzing doesnt. You sure there wasnt a civic tailing you the whole way? :D

He's right, the buzzing thing is wrong.

well the gts doesn't have room for sound dampening in the engine bay, so it will be louder than most cars, like ur gsr for example. But if you feel like it's abnormal or something is rubbing/grinding, get it checked out...

Also, the butterfly valve opens up around 4k rpms (at least its somewhere around there), so that'll have your engine sounding a little bit louder. I'm assuming you're still stock? Either way, if the butterfly valve is still in, you can actually hear around where it opens up. If you want, try taking it out and you'll notice the buzzing sound a little bit earlier. It won't be as pronounced of a change.

LOL guys, I didn't mean it literally "buzzin" it's a figure of speech. What I meant was it's just pretty loud, I was use to it in my GS-R cause at 80 it would be at 4 grand but I just figured since I had the 6th gear It would be lower. Anyways, the Celica is running like a champ, I'm LOVIN' it! My girlfriend and parents call me obsessed but who cares, too bad I'm stuck at work right now It's raining outside and I'm itchin' to go for a nice drive in the rain....

Mine make a fair amount of noise on the freeway, but I've got the intake and exhaust opened up. A little noise is normal, and it's probably louder then a lot of low performance vehicles, but stock it should be deafening or anything like that.

with my blitz intake, my engine sounds louder around 3500 to 4000rpm. Then it quite down after that and start up again on 6000.

lol, the engine is hardly wheezin at 3 or 4k!! Think, thats not even 1/2 way to redline(8300).....thats damn low compared to most cars...There's just no sound proffing(look at the hood, just metal, look at the fire wall, nothing....
and thats how it should be.
