Anyone have any preference for engine plastic painting? And how about paint for the dash as well?

Rustoleum for both. I also follow up with some Testors High gloss clear coat so it looks "wet".

Thanks man. I went to get the paint and the guy in the store laughed at me cause he said it would look like crap if i painted it in 20 degree weather. Guess i'll have to wait till it warms up.

Oreo, please help a brother out!!! What are the steps yu did to paint the plastic. What kind of primer did you use, (brand, color, etc.) and what brand and color of paint did you use and also did you clear coat it and how many coats of all did you use? Please man I just screwed up my plastic and I cant find a decent color. I want the same color tht you used.

looks sweet!! i'm looking for the same effect but red and glossy on my silver celi. i'm also gonna do more than just paint the plastic, getting silicon hoses, the injen dress up kit, and steel braided radiator hoses (still can't find true hoses, only covers - sux) i decided i'm gonna wait till the summer though since i don't have a garage, and it's getting too damn cold outisde.

i always forget to send emails, so what i used was.... krylon spray paint(the cheap stuff i know) the light blue color, i don't know what it's call i broke the cap accidentally. then the sandable primer spray paint (grey). i didn't use any clear coat, and i've had my engine bays painted for over two months. it seems to be fine. just remember with spray paint use alot of thin layers. i also washed the plastics before i painted, but i'm sure you all know that. anymore questions i really couldn't answer, because it was really easy and i think it makes my engine bay look ten times better. oh i also used some white touch up paint for the vvtl-i logo.

Glitch, did you use the bulldog stuff on top of the primer? Because I used bulldog , but its clear and when I tried to paint over it, it didnt make much of a difference becuse the black still came through.

The bulldog goes strait on the plastic then let it dry about 5 min. and apply a second coat and let it dry for about 15 min. then primer and paint.

By chance Toaster do you have pictures of this from your car? Interested and it looks sweet!

Paintwise, I'm going to use Rustoleum Metallic Red Paint. I saw it on I believe Clone GTS (I think) he had the Metallic Blue and it was nice. I had to special order it since no one in the area stocked the Metallic Red color.

You know what i've been noticing with these silicon hose kits. Most of the hoses they replace are around the stock air box... and most of us have taken that out and replaced it with an aftermarket intake with silicon hoses. I think we'ld be wasting our money on one of those kits since we won't even be using most of that hosing. I'm just going to buy a reel of hose in the 3 most popular sizes and cut them myself, especially since i'm also going to do an RSX-S with an intake as well.

Asian_honey_gts.. Send me some pics of your engine bay when you finish... I have a silver celi and want to paint it red also. I decided i'm going to wait till the summer to go nuts with my engine bay. Email me at bitswapper@aol.com

BTW. I really want the nc.org strut bar, but i was also planning on getting the injen dress up pieces, so now i'm undecided about which strut bar to get.
