Okay today I decided to really see if I can land in lift from 1st to 2nd since I've done it only once after I got changed my rev limiter. I don't know how to do those fast launches but I wanted to start off fast right away. I'm sick and tired of always slowly slip into 1st gear then gas it to accelerate. I want to speed up quick like you do with automatics(just step on it!) So while slowly slip the clutch and when it comes time to gas it, I pumped the gas pedle all tha way down(which usually I'll gas slowly). Then JERK JERK JERK while the car's making dun dun dun noise , and I'm not moving an inch...i was shocked and thought I blow the engine or something, then quickly let go the gas.
Anyone know what happened? Did I do something wrong? Should I bring my car in for a check up?

Btw just to see my car's fine, I started driving slowly and even went into LIFT and I did land in lift in 2nd. Everything should be fine?

i dont think you put enough gas when you were slipping. you have to re-engage the clutch.

nah it's just wheel hop... means you gassed it too much... it's all about featherin' and burnin' ur clutch to bits if you wanna launch hard. i don't think our cars were made to launch.

Yeah, sounds like wheel hop.

can someone explain wheel hop? So the dun dun dun noise was made by the wheel banging against the car?

What probably happened was you reved high, slipped clutch, were thrown backward harder then you anticipated, foot left the gas pedal, car decelerated, threw you forward, made your foor press the accelerator pedal down farther again, accelerated forward hard, threw you back, foot left pedal.......until you hit the clutch. This happened to me when I was first learning to drive stick. It's funny as hell to be riding in the car shotgun when a new guy accidently gets that thing rolling that way

no no...this is different I know how it feel to be jerky. Like when it was jerking and going dun dun dun my right foot was still pressed all the way down the gas pedal. Also the wheel did feel like it was slipping.

Did you pop the clutch or did you ride it. If you rode it too long you choked the engine and probably scared the clutch a bit...was there a funky smell after? If so you simply burned the clutch...don't do that too mutch, trust me, I just just replaced my stock clutch. IF you have a stock it is weak and really is not meant to handle full engine pressure alot. Some is OK but don't over do it.

I will have to agree. It was wheel hop. That's what happened when I went to the track. Also, today, IN THE RAIN, I don't know how, but I was ****ing around too much launching and got some MAD wheel hop, the worst ever. Don't worry yourself about it.
