I just got to work today (Toyota/Lexus dealership) to see a Ford Aerostar with it's engine compartment in flames parked outside, with some of our guys putting it out with an extinguisher.
Apparently, the guy's car just went up in flames while he was driving, and he just swerved it into our parking lot, and got out.
Funny thing is, there's a Ford dealership right across the street from us, so you know they're going through a PR hell with the customers that saw it...
Just thought I'd share this Kodak/Metro Toronto Fire Dept. moment with you all!
Although this was an old school Ford (Aerostars were discontinued in the mid-90s, right?), lemme just point out that I've yet to hear about an old Toyota doing this (tons of 80s Camrys and 'Rollas all over the place)... No burned-out hulks have ever been towed into our lot!

HAHA... that's golden. I can just imagine the look on the dude's face when flames start spitting out of his engine bay. LOL

Tell me about it... The acrid smoke found it's way into our dealership, and the whole lot looked like one of those hazy dream sequences.... I do believe the fumes are making me high....

My old 83 cougar went up in flames when the mercury tech mis diagonised my car and it overheated in after being on for two minutes. I've never been so heated.
But My co-workers old 88 Camry went up in flames too for some un expected reason She turned off the car walked into the store and next thing you know the thing was flaming.

I've seen quite a few Toyotas burn down, but always because the tech that was workin on em screwed up.

HEY!! Don't be dissin the the FORD AEROSTAR b!tches! Our old Aerostar didn't bust until like 55K miles so it was pretty reliable by Ford standards.:chuckles: It somehow decided it didn't like Automatic Transmission Fluid anymore and pumped it all out on the freeway and committed suicide leaving us stranded 300 miles from home, our mistake to take that POS on family trips. We got rid of it and got a HONDA ODYSSEY and nothing but bliss from there. My G/F's parents Windstar's motor seized after Ford Serviced it, it wouldn't even crank! Fords should stick with V8s cause they can't make sh!t with anything smaller.

My old ride was a 1985 ford E-150 van. I got 250,000 miles out of it before I gave it away to a friend who needed a van. She still goes cross country pulling a 4,000lb trailer with it. It leaks and burns oil... 1 quart per tank and has had most of the accesories swapped out but hell... quarter of a million out of a gas engine. Those straight 6 engines are bomb proof!
