What's up everybody. Before you read my post, I just want to let you know I'm a complete newbie to the world of Car Audio. I have so many questions that I don't even want to ask them because most of you guys will probably get annoyed. I've been doing searches of this forum and have been getting a better idea of what the good brands are, and what different components do. I still have a long way to go but I'm learning.

The whole point of this post is that I made a sample budget system for my 97 Acura CL on etronics.com, and I wanted a couple of opinions and was wondering If I was making any mistakes in my choices. well here it is:

Pioneer DEH-P6400 CD Receiver w/Organic EL Display
Infinity KAPPA 63.5I 6 1/2" 3-Way Loudspeaker (PAIR)
Infinity KAPPA 692.5I 6" x 9" 2-Way Loudspeaker (PAIR)
Infinity BASSLINK Self-Amplified Subwoofer System

The total for all this is $644.96

Self powered subs are OK at best. They tend to not give as much sound as people expect and like to F**k up for no reason. Pioneer is a good start and the Infinities are definetly a great choice. My only suggestion is to say "screw the self powerd sub" and go w/ a small 10" sub in a ported or sealed box. It will cost a little more but you will be happier in the long run.

I agree with Oblik. The powered sub's are ok but they aren't as good as they are advertized for.I have the Infinity in my wife's car but only because I didn't want to redo the whole set-up.I just added it to the factory cd changer and now we have some bump
