I just got proper ****ed by my insurance company, they jacked my premium to $7400/year from roughly $2000/year. I looked around and it seems that all the companies are following suit and jacking their prices accordingly.

Needles to say I can't afford that ****. The car's gonna get parked under a tarp in my garage until I can afford insurance or sell it. In my situation it hurts twice as much, theres no busses in my hood and I go to school downtown and work odd hours, I really do need a car. But whatever, I'll figure it out.

I'd like to do somthing about it but I frankly don't know what to do. I figure if I can throw together some data I might be able to understand the method behind it. So if you read this, do me a big favor and answer the questions below, thanks. btw, this mostly applies to TO peeps so their input is especially appriciated.

Have your rates gone up?
How much?
Where do you live?
What do you drive?
Hows your record?
How old are you?
Who's your carrier?

Lastly, Is there anything we can do about this? We've got tens of thousands who are totally against this blatant discrimination on the basis of age and gender, we can get organized and we can make some noise, but who do we yell at and what do we say?

They usually ask if u use your car to drive to work/school tell them NO it'll save ya a few hundred.
Could also see if your Work has a group plan and could also opt for the higher deductable.
My insurance did drop a bit when i turned 25 it was like 10-15%

I'm on the same boat bro, my insurance company doesn't want to insure me anymore, and if they do, they told me I'm gonna have to pay 11Gs a yr. I'm gonna try Meloche, I heard that they are pretty fair. Good luck.
