Attn: Peeps who have had smells in their Celica

We've been getting a weird burning smell in our car, and its starting to bug. We've had the cat changed and we're thinking its the clutch but Toyota wont admit that it is..

If you who have had similar smells, can you give us possible reasons that you know/think it is.

I've had smells as well. Like a burnt egg smell. Especially after the car hits VVTL-i. I couldn't tell you why though. :rolleyes: :confused:

burnt egg smell is most likely catayalic converter problem.

The only smells I have encountered so far are when I roast my clutch or from the vents after the ac has been on or something. I know that the clutch stinks something bad when you burn it. It smells like the nasty chinese food from a restaurant I used to work next to.

i usually get it in my gt when i drive up a steep hill

the toyota rep told me that is most likely from the air from the engine going directly into the car and its normal... im like its normal to have a rotten egg/nasty smell when i go up hill?

Hmmm...I only get a weird smell when I turn the fan on (no A/C, just the fan by itself).

From my expereience the car only had a smell when:

1) I launched and roasted the clutch a little bit

2) AC odor, fan odor.

i had cooked eggs smell too ,BUT........

this happened few months ago, some kids throw 2 eggs directly into my hood scoop

now i have over cooked eggs on the header heat shield :mad:

I dont think its a burning egg smell.... it may be the air con, I'm far more convinced that it may be the clutch, like I said, we've had the cat changed recently so i think it would rule that out. Thanks for the opinions tho.... except for the fart joke.. which really sucked :)
