well, if you want an expert's answer, maybe you should have put this in the technical discussion forum.
i don't know that i qualify as an expert, but i'll try.
my answer: nobody knows yet. the 2ZZ hasn't been around long enough to find out. we do know that it can be turbo'd. and i know of a centrifugal s/c coming for it soon (around spring time). and who knows about a roots s/c. but, forced induction is doable and will give you major gains. how long before the engine goes without any upgraded internals? we don't even know that yet because it's still too early.
but, i don't think there's been enough research on port & polish, low-compression pistons, reground cams and all your other favorite tricks to find out. we're finding out more all the time but the definitive answer isn't out there.
i do believe the 2ZZ will ultimately turn out to be as tunable as any VTEC on the road. but, i could be wrong.
hope this helps. i think the next year will be telling and you'll have your answer then. but not now.

hey thanks for that info the reason that i ask is because i am thinking of turboing the celi but i also want to purchase the new z what would you guys do.....
I would get the Z. That is not based on performance jsut a personal opinion.

depends on your goals for the car. would i trade the celi for the new Z? yup, without hesitation. but, somebody else might not. for me, it's hard to beat RWD, 6 cylinders and the history of previous Z's being turbo'd. i think the Z will reach supercar status sooner than the celi will (or ever). but, you're going to pay a pretty penny for a new Z. don't even think about talking them down from sticker. including when they put those stupid "market adjustment" add-on costs. good luck. either way, you'll have fun.
