whats the best way to race an auto gts anyway? is it to keep it in auto or change it to the sportshift? for some reason i feel that it seems to go faster when i put it in sportshift, but maybe its juss me. i know the computer probably knows the best time to switch gears, but i dont know... anyone have some input for me? thanks

The best way to race an auto GTS is to put it into sportshift mode and hit 8000 rpm between each shift.

Definitely sportshift. Auto mode won't rev as high as sportshift mode.

In your imagination. That's the only way it will seem fast. :D

This is what the guy actually said "for some reason i feel that it seems to go faster when i put it in sportshift, but maybe its juss me"

He said the sportshift mode feels FASTER than the auto mode. Re read what he said. It seems pretty straight forward what he said.

Definitely sportshift. You control when it shifts that way, and you can run it right up to redline. Just hit the button around 7800 I think, otherwise you will bounce on the redline!

wow i definitely thought this topic was dead already, but i guess not... but yeah, ive tested out what you guys said about getting it to sportshift and shifting right before redline, and it does seem to go faster a bit since it stays in lift for like a second more, and as soon as it switches gears, it doesnt take a long time as it did before till i hit lift again, so thanks guys, and even though its an auto... its still got a lil kick! lol ;)

Hey jerkoffs, why are you ansering his question if you dont have a auto gt-s? are you guys tough because you have a stick? whatever fools. whatever reason he has a auto, is his business, obviously toyota made the car in a auto for a reason. I'm sure toyota is going to come around your neighborhood and pick you guys to race for their team because you guys are real racers, right? dont make me laugh, remember the car looks fast!!!

For people who dont race and cant drive a stick. If he was more performance minded he wouldve opted to get a manual instead. I have driven an auto GT-S and I can tell you off the line my 5spd GT kills it, it can only catch up after 90-100 mph, but by then the race is over.

the auto GT-S is also a health risk cuz i run around looking to start races at 90-100mph

Exactly. This is why they make the auto. That's why it's so funny when an auto owner talks about racing. If you wanted to race, why did you buy a car that isn't made for it. It's like buying a Ford Ranger and asking how to turn better 60' times.

If someone was thinking about racing at a reasonable price then a base model Z28 in the low 20 thousand range is a much better performance value than the 6 speed. Now that's a car that actually IS FAST. From some of the stuff written by the 6 speed owners you would think they were driving a 13 second car like the z28.

It depends on what kind of racing you want to do and what kind of car you want to drive. I'd love a RWD car over a FWD car. But I don't want anything that weighs over 3k lbs.

Since your so "performance minded", then why didn't you get a GTS? I can't belive you are even posting about this topic when you have a GT. It don't make any damn sense. How come every time somebody post a topic that requires a simple answer, people like you have to post some smart ass reply that don't have anything to do with you or your performance minded GT. I don't have anything against GT's, only when people like you drive them. There should be an age limit or something on this site to keep immature people like you off of here. The sad thing is that your probably in your twenties.

what's wrong with owning GT-S auto and talking about Racing??

I know, GT-S manual is cheaper and faster start but isn't it also preference to buy auto?? just like picking your car color.

Well, first i regret buying GT-S auto but I love my car. I added TRD exhaust and injen intake. My car is pretty fast now.

Please, don't say auto owners shouldn't talk about racing. ;)
