Exactly. Don't let them give you a bunch of "WRX is the best platform in the world" bull****. Find the pros AND the cons of the car.

I bought into that BS, and after driving the car for an extended period..I definetly have noticed that it's just a car with really nice power gaining advantages and AWD...the tossability REALLY needs some help.

All you need to know is that it's ugly.

Hey..watch it. :gap:

It'll grow on you...try watching them in the SCCA and WRC rallies..and you'll definetly appreciate it's snarling ugly fascia as it whips around a hairpin turn with nothing but a flame of mud flying behind it. :headbang:

I don't like the front fascia that much either but, it can be changed or even updated to the newer 04' fasica if you got $$$.
Anything is possible.

They do tend to eat transmissions if driven hard.

Good buy for the money, but not too keen on the looks. I'll stick with my Celica for now;).

I know of at least three that went down last year and Subaru did not pay to fix all of them.

So... practice those one/three upshifts now (most cars lose second)

They aren't as fast in autox as they don't get to use the turbo as well. 2.5RS is better suited for that.

AWD launch is critical for drag racing... otherwise you boooogggggg.

The stock car has power drop off on top, but pulls nice in the mid-range. The drop in power can be remedied once a few things are freed up from what I've heard.

Personally i think that the WRX is a pretty sweet ride but for $25K i dont know...for just $5k more on the loan or the downpayment i would rather have a r-32 from motorex or for $8k get a G35...

My friend has been addicted to the boost of the Rex ever since he bought it. His celica has become a poor step-sister to it. :wtc:

Tranny problems are so over rated.. I've seen more Stock Celica engines blow than 350awhp Rex trannys. As for the car. Full boost at 3200rpm its a rush. The boost stops at about 5000rpm and tapers off... nothing a little upgrade couldnt help. I have a Downpipe and Uppipe on my rex right now. That combo is good for about 50hp to the crank. No Cel, all I know is my turbo hits really hard right now and that downpipe makes me hit redline hard also. The handling takes getting used to. I figure the Celica can take the Apex of a Turn a hell of a lot fast than the rex... so that means enter it fast used the AWD lose that center parts and then slam on it and get that turbo spooling so you can take off. One Manual Boost controller, Downpipe, Uppipe, Exhaust, and your into the 300hp (crank) and in the low 13's. On the stock turbo you could autoX it because there its no lag in this thing. Me personally I am sticking a TD05/18G in it so ill be a slammer till redline and boosting full at 4100RPM. I like that last minute rush.

I would say wait for the STi, it looks loads better than the cureent WRX and is projected to have enough power to compete with the EVO when it arrives.

Bah...good luck getting an STi. And the WRX can be just as fast as that STi can...the STi will just have some improved components minus that 6-spd tranny.

im waiting for an STi, but i might get a 350Z track instead. I still can't make a final choice between the two. im still going to keep my car but i don't know if i want another subaru.

no, its just that it will be kinda weird having two WRX's even if the other is an STi

high 12's low 13's, i need a new clutch though. the rps clutch only lasted 6,000 miles, because of all the feathering when launching my car.

Once I got my Perrin Downpipe and Godspeed Up-pipe on... PHEW!!! Thats STi Territory right there.

Care to race me ??? :D Nice car man. What kind of 60ft times are you getting with that? What do they run stock- 60ft times that is....

I think my manual says 5.4 or something like that....AWD launches are the shiznit..but your Supra (stock) would eat us on the highway.

Supras are FAST on the highway as I'm sure you're well aware. Looks like you've got some mods..what's the SP-63 stand for?

And your times?

I haven't been to the track yet... $hit weather lately. But I figure... 24k for the car, 1500 Turbo Back, 1000 Chip, 1800, Turbo, 750 for fuel, 1000 FMIC = 400hp low 12's and the same price as an STi.

What your forgetting about having "STI like HP and speed" is that the STI still has a better (stronger engine parts internally) and better drivetrain.

he's right about that, the STi is a way different car as far as performance goes. much stronger tranny, 8000rpm redline, brembo's brakes, better interior, stronger engine, three LSD's (the center is ajustable), bigger wheels, and HID's.

i think ill wait for the STi.

STI is nicer yes but still not here. and most of the internals in the WRX are good for 7500-8k. I wish we had a 6-sp tranny tho but nothing 3k wouldn't give ya. If you spend 30-35 on a WRX which is what the STI will proly be you could end up with a tad more hp same compnents aftermarket and lower insurance which is going to be sky high on a STi.
