did you have a FI hood and was the hoop that latches kinda short?
like did you have to modify your hood latch to get it to fit?

i had fiber images but never had problems with the hood latch..it appeared to be strong..

oh no.. not the strength... did you have to make the hasp/latch (thing that you pop) taller so that the hood sat far enough up?

dane! sorry to hear that.
But what is the reason other than weight for getting a carbon fiber?
When u get it painted, does it match up ok?

dude, holy $hit.
thats crazy. just be glad it didnt bust the windshield into your face, or cause you to lose control and get in a bad accident.
that sucks real bad and all, but at least you're ok.

Man that sucks!!!!!!!! Well Ive heard of this happing once before but it was becouse the hood was not fully latched. The FI hood flew up and did the same thing but it ended up being the driver fault.
Well what exactly happend did the latch just break off? Man glad your alright sorry about your car.

i'll have to agree that it's most likely my fault.
I was showin my car to some people the night before, and in order to close the hood, it's a little tricky... i've had it for like 2 weeks, and hadn't fully finished adjusting the latch that the hood closes onto... so it was still sitting low... (damn cf hood for not being exactly like stock)
So.... it probably just didn't get latched all the way..
damages...
windshield
cf hood (back to stock hood already)
hood hinges (since they're bent and stock hood doesn't fit properly)
new wiper blades
1 new wiper arm (i think)
(since they were in mid-wipe when the hood came up)
that platic trim thing that goes under the windshield (just mildly dented.. not sure it's worth replacing)
couple paint chips on my fenders from the ordeal
the ding on my roof.. i'm not gonna bother with... it took a friend of mine and myself about 20 min to determine wheter or not there was a ding there... it's that small and contour to the lines of the car.
ugh... i'm not gonna deal w/insurance on this one since i got the cf hood used.

Make sure you get a prof to install your windshield, otherwise in an accident the glass may come right into the cabin, or flys off at high speed. Also use only OEM glass only as they will not shatter.
I drove my Celica for 3 hrs on highway with OEM hood opened with no problem.
Did you use hood pins?

ok... here's an update
well.. i got my stock hood as lined up as it'll get w/the jacked hinges... adjusted the latch, and put my hoodscoop on.. to find out that there's a fat crack in the hoodscoop, so I'll eventually have to get another one, or get it fixed :-/
my passenger side wiper arm is pretty jacked... not sure how bent the lower part is... the upper part is definately bent..
need to grab at least 2 new wiper blades so i can throw them on after I get the new glass... cuz one of them is really bent, the other is probably full of glass, and the actual rubber part has been flattened..
not 100% if my passenger side fender has damage, or is tweaked... almost looks that way, but i need to see a stock celi to verify... there's nice little paint chip on the fender too... *sigh*
and.. the black plastic thing that goes between the windshield and hood has a little damage... I think I'll live with it for the time being
the new windshield and moulding is gonna cost me $283 w/install (the guys that come to your location)

lol.. exactly...
i'm surprised that i got over it before the passengers in my car...
like i came to terms with it in an hour... my passengers were still kinda freakin out that night... but.. since nobody was hurt... then i guess that's why it's all good
