How to beat a auto honda civic with my auto gt???

but one day my friend with a civic ex 2000
said my car is ****ing slow and suck
and his civic is stock and he said he still could beat me
is there any modification i could to make my auto go faster

I love civics. But your car still should win. More hp more torque, lighter wieght. It will also out-handle a civic. Simple mods would be an intake, injen would probably be best for the celica, and exhaust, trd exhaust would be good. He says your car is slow?? hahaha if he's stock, even if he's got mods he's got an auto ex. That's pathetic, that should do what? high 17s maybe even 18s?

stock for stock, an auto gt should take ANY auto civic, the best being an ex 2 door with like 140 hp, but the celica has more torque (i think) and a lighter weight.

race him stock just to see what would happen. ive raced lots of auto civics in my auto gt (i have i/e) and i whoop em everytime. pull on em at the start, then real hard 30-40 mph as i top out first, then not so much after it shifts, and after 55, i walk em real bad.

The Civic EX should have 127hp. Like everyone else said your auto GT has more hp and torque, and is lighter. You should be ably to shut that fool up without any mods.

Why even drag race these two cars at all, about as exciting as watching bowling on TV. I mean, damn, these cars are NOT FAST, ......if you wanted to street race then why even buy cars such as these....Celicas are great handling, hard stopping, good looking cars best suited for tearing up a twisty backroad. Not one of em is very well suited to drag racing, not even my beloved GTS 6 speed. Take your man in the Honda for a run up a mountain road and if you are half as good a driver as he is all he wiil be seeing is your freakin tail lights, that is what it is all about. How is it a little Honda auto can ever be thought of as quick????? Im pissed off over something entirely different so sorry for the rant but it is true, we do not own dragsters and Honda EXs are not either.

Everyone is right, the only Civic you can't beat is an Si (an none of those are auto anyway) or if it's a heavily modded Civic (and rice doesn't count). I guess Im just posting to verify that I've beat plenty in my lil auto GT, and NO it may not be more fun than watching bowling on TV, but it'll make your friend STFU :D

well, first of all i dont have a celi but i was browsing thru cuz im really bored at work.
i do for a fact own a ex civic. dont kill me, im not biased over cars but ill give u some advice if u wanna win
first of all,
1) lose ur GT rims and get some 13s or 14's steelies and hope they come in five bolt. smaller tires give u better pick up at the start, the ex in the states dont come with rims. so ur just moving about with dead weight.
2) make ur car light, take all ur spare tires, etc etc etc. i dont need to explain what u gotta do.
3) 140 vs 127?? not a big difference, even though u do have more HP and torque. its an auto race how fast is that!, the one who win is the one with the heaviest foot. i think ive seen ur celis have that tictronic thing i dunno if u wanna use it. grab a buddy and do a time trial see how fast u can go from point A to point B. who ever jumps first will win regardless. u might wanna do that power break thing where u hold the break and boot it.
4) a CAI and an exhaust will free some air for u!, u guyz dont have header i recall looking at my buddy gt-s! only trd japan has it.
well i guess i got some of the major stuff covered, if that dont help then u might wanna try some laughing gas hehe :D :D :D

i didn't read all the responses, but i can tell you from experience, you should definately be able to beat a civic. I don't know about auto's, but manual trans. stock should beat even si's....that x-man is right....first of all, civic ex vs celica gt---celica w/o a doubt, but even the SI....it does have more horsepower at the line, but our celicas have more torque, which would and WILL make a difference

i dunno about the civics, but my old '93 accord wagon (4 cyl) has some displacement and nice torque. it'll spin the tires when powerbraking and launch hard. (i launch at 2000 and it spins up to 3500 then takes off). it would take auto GT and auto GTS off the line :D

BTW, don't bring the Si into this. it's got a manual tranny, and the torque numbers will be close (since the auto tranny sucks up a lot of the torque). plus it can actually launch (like at around 5000rpm) so it's in a different league altogether.

If SKYLINERY2K wants to go to that extent to ensure is win, then more power to him. But some GT's have steelie's with hubcaps already and even if he has the stock GT rims, the are pretty light 15"s.

im not here to hate, i know my HONDA! and i know my VOLKSWAGON!!! i was considering selling my ride for twin turbo mr2 (93) and see how ur little tunes would change thats the only ride i would love from toyota even the supra is alright but the mr2 engine is soo much safer to work with. but some one stopped me, telling me to go and be original personally i dont care how many AUTO civic u smoke and how u feel proud of that hahaha even though ive been tempted to ask how can u smoke a civic with 13's and u got 17's and only a CAI? u guyz have to agree with me on this but i find it really hard to believe. a little too proud eh? wait till some one handes it to u. see how i felt when i got smoked by a GSR!! personally i bought my ride to DROP a H22A j spec in or even a K20, thats all i also planned to on shaving everything off and do conversions left and right! but yea thats alright i usually go to all the boards and see what people talk about, this is a very good experience to me cuz i try not to be part of JUST HONDA. since seeing as how all the celica guyz hate civics and civics hate ford and so on!!!! its a good thing my friend doesnt really have a mentality like u guyz cuz even i dont even hate ur car's but personally i think their over priced oh by the way it was civic vs civic!! not GTS vs civic! even i know my limits! i dont go onto the streets looking for races.

As far as the civic, my girlfriend has one 2000 si (ex in states), we're both 5spd (my gt and her) and I'll walk her from any position possible (didn't sound too right). Unless the civic has some hardcore mods u'll own him 13's or no. Although they would help.

unless u do some serious stuff to the civic it ain't gonna be fun, not trying to sound cocky but mines a 93 vx hatch, with a b18c1 with type r internals, dc sport 4 into 1 cearmic header, aem cai, and apexi v-afc.
the corolla only has an intake and exhaust the rest are suspension mods and an lsd.
The civc is probably gonna be sold by this summer though.

First of all, I NEVER flamed you, booohahaha, for having a Civic, I am not the narrowminded person you so label me as. Our Celica group often meets up with Civics, Eclipses, and MR2's cause we appreciate all car enthusiasts and my all girl car club is not just Celicas either.

Secondly, you were challanging the fact that a GT auto could beat a Civic auto, and I was merely saying that I have done it and it is possible. I didn't act like I was "all proud of it" as you say, it's not like I go around trying to race Mustangs and GSR's. I know the limits of my car and that it's not very fast. I was answering SKYLINERY2K's original question of whether he can beat his friend's Civic auto or not. Furthermore, I also never said anything about your VR6 :rolleyes:

I agree. I saw this conversation as you challenging the fact that a GT auto could beat an auto Civic. I guess I was just being a smart ass in trying to say that it is possible and probably also that I'm not to fond of hondas, but whatever floats your boat cause I do appricate all car enthusatics.

You should beat the snot out of that civic. I have a gt auto and have not lost against any civic yet, besides a few Si's and a few turboed and supercharged civics, but rarely will i come across one. I did however beat one turbo civic, but barely...
