wus up everyone, I was at a performance shop here in fresno getting some redline tranny fluid for my car when the guy was like have you seen this MRS that did 10 sec at Famoso Raceway. He showed me the magazine, I forgot which one it was but it sayed his fastest 1/4 time, it was 10.78 sec in 148 mph. I was like "GOD DAMN", I didn't read the whole article but I read his performance parts, he had 100 shot of NOS, Apexi Power FC, injen intake, and some other stuff. He dyno in at a whopping 290 hp at 6800 RPM at the wheels....Thats pretty amazing considering the MRS is 140hp to the flywheel stock. I'll find out what the mag was...just thought I share...GO TOYOTA!!!!

that is hot
still using 1ZZ? or maybe 3S-GTE?
290whp is possible for a completely built 1ZZ

290whp and he does 10's?? damn if that's posible, more props to him:thumbup:
haha that is the super kitted riced out MRS. No way in hell it did 10s. You need more that 290hp to go down into the 10s and that car is not making even 290hp to the wheels with only the 100shot

I'd have to agree on the BS meter...but the MRS is probably one of the most capable cars when some dough and tuning is put into it.
Check out SCCs USSC competition..and you'll see what I'm talking about. That MRS is gonna kick alotta but methinks...

Whole lot of BULL on that....
Ricers these days....slap on nitrous and claim 10 sec quarter mile times.....Honestly

seriously what do you think a mrs would do with 290 to the wheels when it gets 115 to the wheels stock and runs low 15s?
what do you think that one celica with 321 to the wheels does in the 1/4.
its could definetly be in the 11's for both cars in driven correcly and with the right traction.

The best time I have heard of for an MRS in the 1/4 is 12.67 with good traction on the stock wheels...and that was a custom turbo job running somewhere between 10 and 12 psi on the stock internals. And he was probly pushing 250-260 whp (My guess). He also had lightened his car about 100lbs....so I'm thinking that 290 whp is not getting him to the 10 sec 1/4.
His name on here is BoostinMr2 I believe...Jonvolk on Spyderchat. I'd link somehting to the thread at spyderchat but the Db is down.

well i'm posting what i saw in the maganize, i mean if he did lie about it then i don't know, but thats what it sayed in the magazine....if you don't believe me, i'll go back to the performance shop tomorrow and ask what maganize it was and buy it and scan it in for you guys to see it. I have no reason to lie...i don't know if that BS is for me or for the MRS but if its for me then I don't really care what you think, :P

Also I think it would be possible for an MRS to hit 10 sec if it had 290 hp to the wheel....if you look at the weight to power ratio its 7.6 (2195/290) compare to what the celica get its 14.3 (2500/175....the 175 is about average of what gts gets to the wheel with intake and exhaust)....I'm pretty sure he lighten his car when he ran it so the weight would be close to 2000 pounds give or take so I think its possible. Well first off when I saw 290 hp to the wheel, i was like thats not possible and what not but thats what they wrote and thats what i saw.

i kno that Top Secret makes a turbo kit for the mrS for about 4 grand and i believe u get around 300 to the wheel
I know you read it in the magazine but that magazine wrote a lot of BS. ;)
You aint goona go in the 10s with 290whp thats all.

u keep forgettin to keep in mind the weight factor, yea ur right ur not runnin 10s with 290 whp in a 3000 lb car.. but in a mrs, maybe he was stripped out with no passenger seat.. weighin mebbe 2000 or a little bit less.. that makes it very possible..

Hey I have got one and it aint doing 10s with 290hp.
Moreover that car there is not stripped and with 100shot you will not get 290hp.
Stock you get about 120hp to the wheels. With a 100shot(you need to build the motor)you are more or less at 220hp. Where are the other 70??? ;)

thats what i was wondering when i read it too.. even if the car would put down 140! with a 100 shot its still 240.. so i dunno.. mebbe its just very well tuned.. eh.. if it is fake and its bs why would they put it in teh magazine.. it was on of teh feature articles i believe.. weird..

well he has the Apexi Power FC, headers, intake, and whatever else, but I know that with those mods without NOS will not get 190 to the wheel so he must have done something else. I'll go back to the place and get the name of the magazine and buy it on Monday cause they are closed for today.
We were talking about it on spyderchat. It was basically estabilished that it was BS.

Indeed, 300 whp will get you 10s, but only if you're weighing in around 1600 lbs. However, even if you are that light and get into the 10s (and it will be very solid 10s), your trap speed will only be in the 125 mph range (give or take).
To run 10.78 and, more importantly, 148 mph traps in a 1600-1800 lbs car will take somewhere in the vicinity of 400+ whp. Not impossible by any means for a built and turbo'd 1zz (IMO), but probably not in the config posted.

i don't know....300whp in a 2100lb car....why not 10s? especially since it can launch decently. i would give it the benefit of the doubt. that would be enough for a celica to play at 11s if it had no traction issues (which is impossible).

with internal work, a 100 shot of nitrous, and other modifications, hitting 250+whp doesn't seem out of reason for a 1ZZ.
it's just that most people would rather bitch and moan about completely bolt-on turbo kits for their show cars rather than going out and squeezing out the best drag times out of their cars.

doesn't edrick's all motor civic run 10's w/ around 300hp to the crank on a FWD application? so y not w/ more torque and a mid rear setup on an MRS?

let the man talk!! it might be BS(which is more than likely) or it might be real, I think he might be dynoed at 290hp w/ turbo but no N20s!! W/ internal engine work and what not he can be boosting 290 w/ a Top Serect kit(running maybe 1 bar to 1.5bar and a PowerFC, and bunch of other stuff like flywheels, LSD, Clutch, stripped out interior plus the 100 shots, that might well be a possibility.. just my .02
But AFAIK he has no Turbo.

okay i went back to the place and asked about the maganize, its called Nopi Street Performance Compact, go to this website: http://www.streetperformancecompact.com there you will see what the magnize looks like. Also here is the picture of the MR2:
http://www.streetperformancecompact.com/imgs/wp/mr2_b.jpg
i'll go to the store and buy it and scan it in for you guys. Nothing is impossible, :) i give him the benefit of the doubt but trapping a speed of 148 is kinda questionable.
