Anyone Interested in a San Diego Meet???

Hey guys,

I'm gonna try and set up a meet for all San Diego car enthusiasts, all makes and models will be welcome. I am thinking about late Jan or early Feb at MMR Motorsport in San Marcos off the 78 Freeway. Let me know who is interested cuz if there isn't going to be a good turn out I won't hold the meet. Thanks

Most the employees at MMR want to do it. They are not supposed to do business at the store, but they are going to talk to the manager to see if they can hold a meet there and maybe sell some stuff at wholesale prices and do a raffle. If they can't hold it at the store, then we will be able to do it at the drag strip in Carlsbad and MMR will be able to sell stuff there. Will find out in the coming days where it will be for sure.

I'll see what I can do about getting it on a Saturday. If we get the drag strip that will work good, cuz on some Saturdays we go and race at Qualcomm Stadium.

OK well so far it looks like it will be held at the Drag Strip (real track) in Carlsbad. This event is being put on by Team Hashiriya and MMR Motorsports, we are trying to get the track closed down so that the people at the meet will be te only ones allowed to race. Its usually open from noon-6pm (on weekends)....so I can't garantee that part. Anyhow we will figure out the exact date when we get a decent number of people so let everyone know about this event. So far we have members form this board, 2k1civic, and civichatchback. We will be holding a FREE raffle and giving away stickers and coupons for 10% off your next purchase from MMR. If everything goes as planned everything will be 100% free, thats food, drinks (no alcohol), and racing. Hey guys, the meet will be held on Saturday Jan 26, from 2pm-6pm. That will give the peeps in Orange and L.A counties time to get here, as well as allow everyone to be in the area if they would like to cruise to Hot Import Nights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. I will post the directions on how to get the track within the next couple days. So far we have approximatly 25 people who want to come.

yeah, I guess we should have had the Unison/MB Meet on the same day as the Showoff Classics Event was being held on.... so that we would be forced to decide between what event was more importaint to attend

geez... I just said not on a sunday because I cant go on Sundays cuz I have work. Thats the only reason I put that. Also, because people have been asking me... why didnt you goto the Unison meet because I cant get sundays off work in Dec or Jan. Sorry.

so then what was your point of brining up a past event that had anything to do with MB Autosport.... ?

if we are gunna go there - then you could have also said,

you did NOT have to use an example of what a "Sunday" is... Im pretty sure that everyone already knows what a sunday is and they are also quite sure that they also know that it falls on the day right after saturday.

instead, you made it seem like it was a very bad thing that MB Autosport ("your sponsor") had an event on a Sunday... would you rather MB have the event on a Saturday and loose all the business that could have been made from saturday??? (this is one mayjor reason why MOST shops and several different import events are held on sundays)

Isaac: I would suggest just letting this whole thing go. It is stupid to let this get to you. I don't think the comment was a negative one towards MB or unison. He just wants it on Saturday. Argueing about all this stupid stuff isn't going to get you anywhere. You know that.

I am trying to organize a meet here in San Diego, I was at the MB meet and don't need to here people arguing about that stuff here. I am holding the meet on Jan 26 for multiple reasons.
1. MMR is closed Saturdays and Sundays-no loss to them

2. Numerous people have requested it and then a caravan to Hot Import Nights

Thats just a couple of the reasons I am holding it on Sat the 26. No one needs to be arguing with anyone on this post. This thread is to let people know when and where there is a car meet.

Steve are you going to be able to make it to this? Did u get you kit put on? How are the Tein's riding?

Team unison members, Some of you have made it known that this dark star is not what you want on your team unless he lives up to standards for your team. Thats fine and uderstandable. But come on this **** has got to stop. I have attended a few of your meets and thought they were great events. This fighting and picking back and forth need to stop. If you dont want him on your team or he does not meet your requirements let him know. (which one of the unison members already did) Then Leave it alone. This is not what these boards are ment for. If you think so start the thread on your board and bash away. I am not taking anyones side but and I hope I do not piss anyone off. I am just tired of all the fighting that is starting to ruin once a great sorce of info for all celica owners. can we please get back to more important things like our cars. Thanks

Here is the latest info. I went to the track earlier today and was hoping to see some people there and maybe get a run in, but it was closed. I tried to get some pics but they didn't turn out to good, I couldn't get a good angle on the track. From what I could see the have all the lights, a big banner at the start point, and a good sized dirtbike track. There was one person on his bike riding out there, but I couldn't get his attention. I also saw what was either a fairly large parking lot or skidpad, but it looked to rough to be a skidpad. Here are direction on how to get to the track:

From I-5, exit Palomar Airport Road and go East, Turn left onto White Sands Dr., Turn left onto Poinsettia Ave and proceed through the gate.

From I-15, exit Freeway 78 West, exit San Marcos Blvd., Turn right onto White Sands Dr., Turn left onto Poinsettia Ave and proceed through the gate.

The only thing that sux is it is a dirt driveway. So we are going to talk to a reputable shop, to see if they can do a disounted price on a wash. Also they will have medical personnel and an ambulance, and firetruck on hand for safety. If we can't get the track to be free for us it will cost $10-$15 to run as many times as you can. I will have more information tomorrow.

Clean before the run and clean again after the run.
If it is a dirt track this is a good thing to do, unfortunately this is on a saturday so I may not be able to make it. If I am going down to San Diego I would be in the HIN because I am in the show team, wish you all have good runs!!!

Hey Hashiriya,

What color was your hatch at the Unison/MB meet?? As far as the track....Carlsbad is not a pretty track, in fact it's pretty fugly. ;) Getting there is like going off-roading and the staging area isn't big at all...it's a mess. There is no board to put times, one can only get slips. Besides that, it IS a sea level track so you'll get some pretty decent times there. Hope to see some quick imports that day. :D Most of the time it's a bunch of trailer queens and muscle cars with asshole owners who clown imports. sigh. Only imports that were getting any respect was my friend's MPB wrx.
