Looks really neat. Now how difficult was it to remove the stock orange off the gauge cluster? I gave up mine quickly, and I am still wondering if there is a more efficient way to remove the color without warping the bezel.

Hmmm.. it is easy.. but if you have patience it's not too hard..
But lots of detail work.. cause basically you have to scrach it off or use dremel on every amber part....
I didn't do this one, but friend did it on his Celi...
Didn't do a good job.... I highly recommand getting Russ's gauge....
But if you have patience and don't want to spend any money.. it'll be a try... if you mess it up... then just get Russ's gauge no problem... LOL

This is basically stock gauge with amber paint remove...
My friend did it on his Celica, but didn't do a good job on it.. it looks messy...
But if you get Russ's OEM gauge face with black font....
You can have that effect....
I've order white/black face from Russ already.. so I'll have pictures of it.. with blue/red AND white LED
Black font is basically smoke but at night.. LED color will shine through.....

You can order it from www.rjautoworks.com
Example of gauge you'll need for this setup..

so i own a GT, not a GTS. im a little dumbfounded with this subject but cant you just scrape off the amber off the needles, correct? and ill have to buy a some led's to change the amber tach numbers/speedo to white? or what?

yeah.. all the main coloring of the gauges is made by the led's which are orange stock..
you can replace them with blue, red, white, yellow, etc...
the gauge face pretty much allows the light to go through, so if you have blue led's and the stock gauge face, it looks orange during the day, and a really dark purple that you can barely see at night... so you remove the paint from the needles using rubbing alcohol and qtips, and paint w/ clear model paint, the color of the led's, and then those suddenly glow.
you can scrape the orange off the stock gauge face, but that is a pain in the ass.. i started, and i'm pretty patient, and didn't even want to bother with it.. which is why i started this gauge project, and now, the gauges will done w/production in roughly 13 or so days... :)

that was probably way too long of a response.. :)

cool russ. so i just want the stock black faced gauge, but i want the white tach/speedo with Dooly's SuperWhite LED's.

thanks for the advice, and there is a guy here in dallas that has done the gauge cluster led conversion plenty of times so i dont have to fuck it up. :)

edit: btw dooly, the needle/LCD kit for $50 dollars does or does not include the LED's for the speedo/tach?

Needle LED kit will work together with speedo/tach cause they use same light source.

But to make white.. you required to have stock amber removed from the gauge or.. get gauge from Russ white/black gauge face...
More info about supre white gauge..
