how much horsepower and torque does a stock 97 eclipse rs have, thanks

It would have been either the 2.0 or the 2.4 as Mitsu didnt make a 2.2 in an Eclipse. I believe a 97 RS has the 2.0 DOHC with 140 hp/130 torque but they weigh more than the Celica GT and have much different gearing. They are by no means slow though. They can hang with a GT if not beat one if driven correctly. I had a 95 RS and it was a nice car. Had a mean ass 3rd gear in that mother. It would do over 100 in 3rd. I never got tired of doing a 5th to 3rd at 90 and taking off like a bat out of hell till I hit 4th.

the RS has the 420A neon engine...so does the GS, but i think the GS has a better intake. yes its a 2.0l. the only fast eclipes were the turbo ones. the new ones suck donkey balls, theyre fun to pick on. 200hp was never so slow until the put it in that god awful mercury cogar/pontiac grand am body

i do believe rs and gs were both 140hp while the gst was 205

Don't laugh too hard at them because with times in your sig you will lose to some 3G's now.

Yes, I know he can beat me, but he can't beat them all. And if thinks they all are slow and fun to play with, soon enough he will run into one that shows him the "Cougar" tailights...

ihm.. fyi.. 2keclipse ran 14.6 the weekend before I ran 14.7 in his Eclipse GT.. and he only has basic mods.. they are far from slow..
