View Full Version : Center Console A/C panel instruments...dilema
Well I decided to paint up my center console, but I do not want to paint the A/C controls area, because of the lighted area.
I've seen people who just painted the soroundings, but dont like too much...
I know someone around here had like a overlay thing to put on, it just look like it was painted.
So if anyone could help...

he has vinyl stickers you can put on the area so when you paint it, it'll be covered

that does look clean.... just curious, do your overlays match up perfectly with the stock ones? If so, couldn't you place your overlay on before painting and then peal it off... or if your overlays are larger, you could scrape away some of the stock paint and then do as said above?

what im saying is... is there someone that makes an overlay in vinyl that will simulate a paint job and still be able to light up at night.
I dont want it to be covered up with paint...
so any overlay kit out there to match up what I want....

what you can do is maybe get Transparent TESTOR paint at like a hobby store and just paint the AC control part. The rest of the center consol can then be primered, painted and clear coated with regular dupli paint or any other paint you desire.

I think I am going to try to mess around with painting my console red this Summer and try some of that testors smoke paint on the controls to make them darker.

I've done something completely different with my friend's AC panel. Pics will be up soon.

Not sure if just paint thinner would be strong enough to effect the coating, though.
