I was makin a lane change. A jeep happened to be in my blind spot. So I basically ended up cutting him off. I signaled my lane change, but I did not see him there. So I got rolled and the cop sited me for "unsafe lane change"
I just think its jacked that I got fined for an honest mistake. I glanced over to check my blind spot, but didnt look back all the way.
Any advice on how to contest this ticket? Maybe if theres any solid information about the celica and its blind spot, it could help me out a lot.

Sounds like it's your fault. But since the whole point system is a scam to raise insurance rates, I hope you win in court. :D

If your mirrors are adjusted properly there is no blind spot

You'll probably just have to pay it. No, you didn't mean to, but traffic laws aren't written to govern your intentions. They are written to govern your actions. You did what you got a ticket for.
This morning on my way to work, I was driving behind an 18 wheeler in traffic moving about 35 mph. I ended up just running a red light because I couldn't see the signal, even though I was a few car lengths back from him. I looked to see if there was a cop when I realized what happened. I figured I'd just tell him I couldn't see the light because of the truck, but it was my fault.

I dont mind going to court, or even paying the fine, im just concerned about my insurance getting jacked up. I have one speeding ticket on my record. I live in california, and the game is completely different in this state.
Anyone know what the fine is, or how many points you get from unsafe lane change?

Doesn't sound like it's that bad of a ticket it probably won't be anything to worry about. I got 0 points for 14 over just had to pay a fine. it may work out like that.

I think it helps to lean forward while looking into ur side view mirror if you don't wanna turn your head all the way back to check... that way you can see what is in your blindspot.. but i do know what you are talking about, celicas definitely have major blindspot problems...
