So... my celi's in storage for winter, trying to avoid salt and such. But, it was nice and dry yesterday, and my car hadn't been washed since I put it in the garage for storage last month... I had to drive it one day while it was snowing... so it was filthy.
The carwash is right down the Block from my house so, I took her out... WOW I missed her sooo much. The power of the engine, the growl of my exhaust :( I hate winter... I can't wait for summer to roll around, and I might not sell it now... I miss it sooo much.
Well, I got to the "Do-it-yourself" wash, and EVERYTHING was frozen in ice...lol. The wand and the brush were encrusted in it... fortunately I was able to break the ice with a swift kick to the wand... and it cam lose... I put in my quarters, and HOT water came out...so I sprayed the brush off, and melted the ice...
It was soo cold, I sprayed the car off before I used the soep brush, that by the time I had put the wand in it's sheath... and got the brush, the water on the car was crystalizing... In a matter of seconds... I scrubbed her up real good, and sprayed her down again. She was all nice and clean :D
When I tried to dry her off, she was frozen...lol. So I put her back in the garage encrusted in a thin layer of ice... which has already melted by the warmth of the Garage...
She looks so good, sitting on my white pearl rims... I can't wait til summer.

I just washed mine today.... took her for a quick ride in an attempt to dry her off... it kinda werked, but there were still deposits and lines of ice. Oh well...at the very least I got all that sh|tty salt off my paint.

I wash my car religiously. I wash it every week, and polish it at least once a month with a clay bar.
Tacoma weather is horrible, though..can't keep the thing clean. :(
Yea I washed mine this weekend it was sunny 75 degrees slight breeze man I hate winter in So CAl lol/.

Well, it has been cold lately here in FL for the area and I have been reluctant to wash the car. I guess I am just a wimp, the coldest I have ever washed a car in so far is maybe 40 degrees.

the last time i washed my car, it didn't feel very cold outside. it wasn't until i got to the car wash and got water on my hands that i noticed how cold it actually was. i nearly got frostbite and was barely able to put more tokens in the machine, because i could hardly feel my fingers to fish the tokens out of my pocket. next time, i need to remember to bring gloves. :gap:
also, with all the mist swirling around the car wash, the cold tends to stick to your skin. so you feel even colder.
and, just like you, the water froze on my car and on my windshield while i was drying it.

When I was in college, I washed my MR2 all the time in near freezing to sub freezing temps. I would pull it into the carport to dry it, and use a hair dryer at low heat setting to keep the water liquid so I could dry it off.

I just took my car to the car wash for the first time on New years eve.... I couldn't get the antenna off and the attendant was like "thats not good" (just what I wanted to hear as my car is practically going through)...I actually prayed to God that nothing got riped off the car, scratched, ruined, etc.....
I hate car washes, especially on a black car!

I think MN has the worst winter out of US, the snow is horrible, we have more salt on the road than Utah's salt lakes!! Lucky she is sound and safe stored in the garage!
You used the car wash abrasive brush??!!!!!
That thing will scratch the hell out of your paint!

yeah, I went to the car wash...probably the 1st and last time I will do that. I am all about hand washing but the temps here are currently low 20's to single digits....I am not gonna freeze my ass off washing it!! Plus, it was lookin pretty shady, more like a white car than black

Did the same thing, 'Chiggy, but I used the California Water Blade and all but a few drops were off - which promptly froze as I sprinted down the freeway. :chuckles:

Something to remember: salt needs a couple of things to really do damage -- water and oxygen on exposed metal. If you wash your car, you are putting water to the salt. If it stays below freezing, the water turns to ice and can't react. I feel it's better to leave it when it's way below freezing, and wash it just before the weather breaks, on a sunny (not slushy / mushy) day. Food for thought.

Shew thank god we have a big ass heated shop that i wash my car in. i just pull in it when ever i want and wash wax what have you then dry it off and let it set there till i have to leave. if any of you have a garage if i where you id put a drain system of some sort in it and wash my car in there it is so much better than freezin your ass off and your car really gets clean
