sorry for my abscence from these boards... too much going on with my final semester in college... but anyways...

I'm about to embark on a new mission... while i'm still waiting for either a working blitz supercharger or XS Turbo, i need something to keep my interest in the Celi before i sell her... (Mitsubishi depressed me with the butchering of the Evo VIII... once again, all car manufactures think americans only want straight line power with the removal of the ACD and AYC, and, took the nice classy front front from the VII and sent the front bumper and hood to JSP or Andy's autosports for their designer touch in making a parts for those who are interested in something that doesn't match bodylines let alone overall style of the car)...

ok... I'm curious if anyone has done Lambo doors on their Celi yet... from measurements we've taken, and a machine shop at the factory my friend and his dad works, it maybe a reality, especially without rolling the fenders for clearance... and for waaaayyy less than the kits that Decah sells at MSRP of $1600... anyone with any input/advice would be appreciated...

no offense but i think unless your cars are all-show (in which case they might be), then you may be asking for trouble. these kits are known to leak like crazy and not real reliable, and im guessing it might cause a whole lot more highway noise.

This whip isn't a garage/trailer queen n' it's not all show... as for the door kit, it won't be motorized... it'll be a specially machined hinge kit to all the door to open enough to clear the front fenders then turn upwards...the factory striker will still be used and the hinge will be the same size as the factory hinge... in addition the rod used will add a lil' more support than factory possibly pending on it placement...

usual cost for these kits range from $800 for a cheap not true Lambo style, to $1600 for a kit with rods, to $3500 motorized... my cost... based on the hinges and rods needed i can't deliberate it, lets just say this, they must be adding A LOTof the cost of the labor that was used to figure this out, the patent, and mass production fees... I wouldn't be able to give a price now, but i'm not planning on going mass production of it... if it works out that i think it's a GOOD QUALITY kit, i'll then consider taking some small orders just from you guys.... remember, don't hold me to this, it's an experiment, it may not come out as planned...

my work isn't the concern of the hinge, or fender clearance as they should be easily over come, but it's the rod system... we'll have the weight off the door, and pivotal weight figured out so we know which grade of rod needed to support the door and make it easy to open and close... it's just the placement... we're trying to go on as a bolt on fashion with as lil as possible modifications being needed...

if it works out... the car will look and feel a lil more like an exotic car... without the price tag associated with it, oh yeah, and without the 12cyl power either, but, i can't afford a Ferrari or Lambo at this time... so i'll hopefully XS engineerings help with power, and i'll have Hotchkis' hand in handling with their TVS... Supra's are not as much as a suprise to beat these supercars anymore... but... a 4-cyl Turbo that gets 27 MGP in the city let alone highways... that would prolly piss some people off, big time...

even if u boosted, the celi wont run with a ferrari or a lambo, unless a ridiculous amount of money is spent, look at the Rod Miller Ultimate celica.. $500,000 and still only a 12 second some what car..

the lambo door kit sounds cool though

just something to chew on... you're gonna have to take into consideration the wires that run from the inside of the car to the door for mirrors, windows, speakers, etc.
