Who would win? GTS vs. 97 Supra Auto Non-Turbo

My friend at work wanted to race me, he has a 97 Supra Non-turbo automatic. How fast is a non-turbo auto Supra anyways? I have a 6-speed gts /w trd exhaust. I think I would win because it's an auto with about only 220hp and 3200lbs I think...

Actually you should beat him. I wouldn't say that you would SMOKE him, but you'd win. NA Supras are pretty damn slow http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/wink.gif

And the fact that it's an auto will actually help the supra. Supras aren't like Celicas. the auto box is strong. The fastest Supra i've seen with my own eyes at the 1/4 mile ran an 11.2 and it was an auto.
Automatic trannies are a very different story from a 4 to a 6 banger.

although i have a cai, which would help a lot in a race, i still beat the hell out of those cars. you should be able to beat him even with a misshift (or two). dont get me wrong, i love those cars and they hav a helluva lot of potential i.e. torque converter but bone stock they are slow.

i don't beleive the auto tranny helps the N/A supra as much as it helps the TT one.

N/A 5-speed Supras can run what? low 15s? into 14s? they're a close race.

if the auto makes that car slower (as i think it does) you should win. if you had an intake, i'd definitely favor you if you knew how to drive as well.

Actually you're wrong. I have 2 friends with N/A automatic supras both of which i beat numerous times. The first few times we raced i would win by maybe a car to a car in a half, but now since one of my friends has gotten exhaust i can only beat him by half a car.

N/A supras are slow. You can't say its "driver vs. driver" cause its an automatic. Doesn't take much skill to lose in an automatic.:D
