I was wondering how much to get a good quality paintjob. I was thinking I would do some shade of blue for my celli but i didnt want to use some cheap thing like maco to do it. I was talking to my uncle and he guessed it at being around $2000 bucks! Is that anywhere near right?

Anywhere from 4-10k. Depending on the paint you get (custom color or common color) and the quality.

Paint shops prices vary hugely from region to region. So go to your local shops, the reputable ones, and get some estimates.

Here in Atlanta, a respray of the same color is about $1500-$2K for a good job. $1K for something decent, but not great.

And you're right, stay the hell away from Maaco. I was at a friend's shop recently picking up my girlfriend's Integra after it had just gotten a color change, and somebody rolled in with an Eclipse that had been sprayed by Maaco. Horrible doesn't begin to describe this thing. It was supposed to be Lexus IS yellow, but it had kind of a green tint to it. In some spots, the original red was showing through. The headlights, windshield, windows, and rear hatch glass all had yellow spots from overspray on them. They painted the intercooler, radiator, and half the suspension somehow. And it had like 50 chips from where the paint was starting to peel. No clearcoat, and the whole thing was rough like sandpaper. I couldn't even imagining spending hte $199 they charge on something like that. I mean, the original factory paint is a million times better.
