You can use a hammer (not a good idea) or you can try to bake it in an oven to loosen up the glue. Why would you want to clean the inside? It shouldn't be dirty.

I need to open mine too because my last pair of headlights blew up inside and not only is there shattered glass all over inside - but when the glass hit the mirrored surface inside the headlamps it left scortch marks all over and it looks terrible.

I'm gonna give it a shot sometime this week. I'm keeping the damaged headlight from my accident so I can experiment on it all I like without worrying. Just gotta wait for the body shop to finish their work.

I had a bulb burst too, I unbolted the whole housing and took it out. Used a wooden dowel, with a few paper towels and Windex toclean it out.
