What is this? I bought a piaa 1157 bulb but it had 2 conductors at the bottom and did not fit. So I returned it and they said try an 1156. This also does not fit. I'm confused...

yeah i just ran into that today actually.. i got some 1156's and the 2 pins dont line up with the 2 grooves in the socket... just sand one of the pins down.. thats what i did.. no problems..

1156 is the right one... yeah u have to shave some of plastics outta groove in order to make ur bulbs fit.... getta pocket knife and cut it, then sand it down with nail cutter..... works da best...:D

i didnt even think of cutting the socket out.. i just got the electric sander and sanded one of the pins flush with the rest of the bulb.. oh well.. whatever works..

i used a filer.. it's perfect, no problems... 1156 is the rite one.... u can pick up a pair of clear turn sigs that glow yellow for like 4 dollars at kragen, walmart.. etc. theres no trace of orange in the front at all, and it glows the "legal" way... imo the way to go, but im biased cuz i did it.

thanks guys, i recently got hiper bulbs for my headlight assembly and couldn't fit them in cuz of the pin alignment, so it doesnt matter if it has only 1 pin connecting?

its not a pin its a nipple that holds the bulb in the socket, the part that connects to power is the lead on the bottom and the brass on the side is where it grounds. and only 1 nipple works just fine. I tried using a file but it was taking to long so i used needle nose pliers and just broke one off took less than a second and everything still works great.
