I got a speeding ticket, and I am going to plead not guilty. I am seriously considering getting a lawyer, so does anyone here know of a good lawyer in the Orlando area that does traffic violation defense? Any help would be appreciated. I looked in the phone book and there are about a million.

Pick any in there, they are about the same when it comes to a speeding ticket.
My advice is, if you have school as an option take it because it will cost more to get a lawyer than to go to school.

Is that so? Hmm...someone on these boards told me that lawyers can be had for $49-99 for something as small as a speeding ticket. And the school for me would cost well over $200, not to mention the fact that my fine even after school would be around $150. Honestly, I don't have the money for that right now. Looks like I may end up representing myself after all. :wtc:
$200 for school? more like 40 bucks and you can just take that piece online.....but yea i would def get a traffic lawyer first..i know in ft laud they are like $50 bucks....anyone know a good lawyer in columbia county? i also got a ticket 101 in a 70

Hehe, I really don't feel like typing it all out right now, but here is the thread I posted in General Discussion. For those too lazy to read, here are some cliffnotes: I got busted for doing 65 in a 40 even though there was no way in hell I could have been doing 65 with an intersection 50 yards ahead of me.

Just a warning to all drivers out there, be careful of cops that don't pull you over by normal means, but instead jump out in front of your car at the last second (not wearing standard uniform mind you) causing you to slam on the brakes and pray you don't hit them...thank god my brakes didn't lock up. I don't have ABS.

If she is in the Orlando area, please get me her info. I am going to need to get these points and fine dismissed. I just don't have the money right now for that kind of thing.

To tell you the truth, this is about the worst time for me to get this ticket. I am 17 years old and I live in an area (Winter Garden) where jobs are hard to come by, especially when you are a minor and all those labor laws apply to you. I have been unemployed since November even though I am filling out more job applications than ever it seems. I have a whole $300 to my name, and my mom is nice enough to help me out with my car and such, but this is my problem, and I am not even going to ask her to help me out financially with it. She offered, but I declined because it isn't her problem and she is already helping me out more than enough.
So, if an attorney were to drag the case out for a long time, I really wouldn't care as it would just delay me having to pay fines if they are even there. This really sucks though. :wtc:
tricia how was it your fault?

If you had Prepaid Legal Insurance for $16.00 a month (individual plan) you wouldn't be going through all this. I had posted before about this to be of help to all. I will "briefly"state the benefits of this plan. You can have an attorney represent you anywhere in the US for traffic violations. The attorney will go to court "for you" & get your fines decreased, no points, you "may" have to go to traffic school. It covers you for all motor vehicle defense, IRS tax audits, civil suits, & anything else at a 25% discount off attorney fees, which here in Florida is about $250.00 an hr. Our law firm is about $115.00 an hr. The attorney law firm is the 10th largest in the state of Florida & represents companies like Budget Rent a Car, State Farm, etc.
I might add that last year alone 100,000 people died on the highways, more than the Vietnam War! I wouldn't drive my Celi here in Florida or anywhere else for that matter w/o Prepaid Legal Insurance. Some idiot hit me last March & I wasn't even moving, & Prepaid has handled it from the get go (no money out of pocket). God forbid I hit someone & kill them, Prepaid will represent me, win, lose or draw. I cannot tell the importance of this insurance & your Auto Insurance "will not" cover you for any of this.
In summary, I am really sorry that this happened to you, but there are things that you can do to protect yourself in the future...This service saved TRDTuner's license many years ago. To me the small amount each month gives me peace of mind every time I step out of my house.
I hope this information helps you, that was the purpose of my repsonse. It wasn't to solicit business, but to share with you & everyone else that you don't have to be left out in the cold unprotected...
Be safe...

I got busted two weeks ago for doing 40 in a 30 in port saint lucie. I got 3 tickets in total, speeding, curfew, and not changing my address and almost one for tint. He wouldn't let me drive home and took me to the station until my parents could pick me up. I would of gotten in trouble for alcohol possesion too, but I threw it in a ditch thankfully.

you know if your poor and stuff you can plead not guilty and later you can ask to reschedual your trial date so you have some time. And a lawyer doesn't do anything except plead no contest. There is are sites on the web that tell you exactly what a lawyer would do. In most cases all they have to do is show up and if the cop doesn't you win.

Thanks, but I'm not poor, just not in the best financial situation right now. I need to spend my money on maintenance for my car, and I wanted to buy some WW sides, but I can't now. I am strongly considering just reppin' myself since one lawyer I called today wanted $175 and could only guarantee no points. So, I could end up paying the fine of $170 and then lawyer fees, and I don't have the money to do that.

Hi Celi Racer! :)
What makes anyone think that they're not going to get another ticket in the future? What will you do then, pay the fine & higher insurance costs? If you had prepaid there wouldn't be any out of pocket expenses for an attorney.
Because the Celi's are so visible, what makes you think you're not going to get pulled over again?
Speeding again FIN? :wiggle:
I wish I could help you guys, but all I can do is give you the information.
The definition of crazy is doing the same thing & expecting a different outcome...
Take care & safe driving...:burnout:
