i am about to purchase a set of wheels but sorta unsure about 18 inch wheels. i really wanted 17s but the wheels are 8 inches wide and a 215 really wont fit right and the konig imagines in 17s wont fit our cars. so it just leaves me with 18s only. please help!!

1. which profile is better for a 18 inch tire?

2. will a two inch drop and 18 inch wheels rub?

3. for those who have 18 inch wheels, do you notice any loss in performance? i have no intake or exhaust so i probably will, huh?

4. which tires are better? falken or toyo or dunlop w-10 or yokahama parada

thanks

these question may be gay but geez!!! wheres the love!? its 2002 now! at least help me with this one: would a 225/40 be better than a 225/35? and would either one of those sizes rub with a 2" drop? thats all!? thanks again:sad

My wheels are 17x8 and 215's fit just fine.
I would go with a 40 profile if the roads where you live are bad and a 35 if the roads are pretty good.
I think a two inch drop w/ 18's might be a little to much.

true!! they will fit but the tires will have to stretch to meet the wheel. tell me this bling, are your tires flush with your wheels?

Not perfectly flush, but close enough. A 225 would be better.

Kumho ecsta supra 712. 215/40/17.
As far as the drop I was just taking a guess. I could be wrong. I don't have 18's.

Hey mcscruff,

It's a pretty under-whelming response you got to your question!

I will help you out as much as I can....

There are a number of Celica's with 18" wheels and lowered suspension. None of the ones I have seen required any rolling/modification of the gaurds.

The ones I have seen were lowered 1.6" to 1.8", so you should not have any problems with rubbing if you lower it 2". As long as the gaurds are not lower than the top of the tyre, you should be fine.

I have also seen a lowered Celica with 19" wheels (and 35 profile tyres, I think) which did not require any guard work.

Matty P

PS I think you guys call guards 'fenders' over there - anyway, you get the idea.

i think there is a guy with a spectra blue celi that has a 2" drop, some 18" volk wheels, and a blitz body kit. anyone know his screen name. i would like to know from whoever has that type of setup, would you scrape your kit on speed bumps or is there any rubbing in any way? :(

jotan82: your tires rub when you are not careful? what about the kit, does it rub? what defines not careful? thanx

the tires do not rub at all... perfect size, and allowance....

i meant the kit may scrape if i don't go into a driveway/speedbump diaginal... that's what i mean by careful

I have 18x8inch with 225/40 tyre. I have a 2.25inch drop at the front and 2.75 at the rear. The guards do not rub, however because the offset is slightly wider for the car, 32mm, it does slightly touch a plastic bit of the guard when I hit a hard bump, just havnt had the chance to cut it out. Otherwise, the fit is perfect, and the height looks great. I would go for a 225/40, just to protect your rims, and also fill the guards out better. Get a 35mm offset and you should be fine. :)

Does that mean that 19's and a 2" drop will work or is that too much?
