It seems like there may be some sweet cars comin out byt the time I graduate. One problem with Nissan recently is that maybe there math is a little off. I wouldn't be surprised if 260 = 230 in their heads. It will also be interesting if we see any of these enthusiast cars to come over to the states since everyone wants to roll around in those biga$$ SUVs. I HATE suv's. They are already thinkin about not bringin the RX-8 over in 2003 cause of the United State's recent move to SUV's. Can't blame them though because car companies are there to make money, and they if they don't see a market here, they won't sell the car here. Such a shame. Regardless, I wann see both the RX-8, the Z, and hopefully a restyed, lighter, more powerful audi TT.

Yea but you have to remember the 260hp is at the least i think. I mean sure the over rated the maxima, sentra, but I think some maxima guy was around in an earlier 300z topic and said the newer maximas(255hp) were doing like mid-low 14s. Now imagine less wieght, rear wheel drive, plus 10-30 more hp. Nissan orginally said 290 right? Now i guess its gona change-- haha. O well still a nice car but I still don't the the whole audi tt+celica=300z

I don't think that Nissan would rate its flagship sports coupe below the Maxima's output. The new Maxima will be pushing over 255HP peak, so I would expect the Z to push around 280 if not something close to 300HP. I wouldn't wait for a Turbo though, if you get a good look at the engine bay and the engine layout, there is a lot of space near the driver's side toward the firewall, but the pressure in the manifold would be lobsided and cylinder pressures would not be identical. I guess you would have to take a good look at that engine like I have.
Anyway, its a done deal, some dealerships are taking deposits for the Z car. Its comin' as well as the RX-8 too. Hold on, its the retun of the sports car!

Makes the Celica look plain?? Hardly, it makes the Celica look even better. The Z is ugly. We'll see about the performance. The SE-R was suppose to be incredible, but that hasn't been confirmed too well yet.

Lets not forget about the EVO7 =) On Jan 4th Mitsubishi officially announced that it will be coming to the US in 2003. Most people suspect that it will come out before 2003 as a 2003 model year car. It's gonna have about 260hp and the brembo brakes and recaros from the jdm car. It will also cost less than 30k. That's all that's known for sure. The Z will probably be the higher quality car, inside and outside, but the EVO will be better performing.

that's almost a 20% drivetrain loss. Seems a bit high, but it's possible. Most manual cars lose about 15% through the drivetrain.

i was reading about that EVO7.. and before i fell in love with the celica.. i was a HUGE eclipse fan.. the one thing that really kinda made me look for other cars was the fact that the turbo eclipse.. gsx or gs-t.. has a problem called crankwalk.. it doesnt affect all of them but if u get it.. its a HUGE problem.. now the EVO7 is said to use the 4g63 engine.. the same as in the eclipse.. it has more horsepower but its still the same engine.. im just thinking that this problem might strike up again in a different car.. this is just my own speculation.. but i do know that that crankwalk is a problem mitsubishi doesnt own up to..
