I know this subject has been talked about before and I dont mean to be annoying. But why does some people's check engine light come on when they get an intake? My friend in the bay area got an AEM intake, and they installed it. He got the CEL on now. Now, if a company specifically made that intake for that car, and made mass production of it and they knew that there was a problem with the CEL, dont you think they could figure out what the hekk is going on? Is it the mass air sensor? That it thinks that the engine is not getting enough air cus the diameter is bigger? Or what? Also, if you get your car tuned up can they figure out what it is? Cus they should have the thing that they just plug it into the computer and it shows up on the screen what is the possible problem. Any info is greatly appriciated, except for "I dont know" or "figure it out yourself". :)

CEL comes on for many different reasons, there is no way for us to say this is why..

only way to know for sure why the CEL is coming on is to take it to Toyota.. otherwise just reset the battery and x your fingers that it doesnt come back on..

i think a majority of the CEL is due to the MAF sensor. After checking all the hose and it seem to be in correctly then its the MAF sensor. If the MAF sensor isn't on good, air would leak thru somehow and that will set off the CEL. Its really sensitive. Thats what I notice especially on my car.
