After the misshift.. I just don't feel that my cars the same anymore. It's got 35k. MY clutch vibrates... second gear goes in rough sometimes.. engine bay kinda rattles when i hit lift.

Just alot of lil things.
So how would the misshift affect the resale value of my car?
It was valve repair.. 8 bent exhaust valves. But I can tell my clutch got a good beating.

Think I should switch over to the new Tib? Im hearing some positive things about them. And they look nice.........
just read somewhere about a $2300 turbo kit.
hmm.. what you guys think?

They do look nice but you're going from Celica to a Tiburon. Quality and other stuff aren't as good but hey.....its good to explore new cars, maybe the new car will fit you perfectly.

tib has 170 out of a v6? thats pretty cruddy, IMHO. there are better cars out there.. u can go for an se-r spec V for a torquey i-4 that will knock the socks off the tib. then theres the mazdaspeed protege.... IMHO dont get the tib.

but they have just about as much support as the celica, plus it got its balls cut off when the new one was released.

and i say stay away from the tib. you can pick up a focus SVT or an SER for the same amount..

Wow.....talk about a step down.

Hey.... I'm not sure how much a brand new Celica GT-S goes for down in the states, but in Canada you can get a brand new Tiburon GT 6speed and an Alpine Supercharger for just about the same price as a new Celica GT-S, plus you get to keep your drivetrain warranty. You also get some nice extras, like big brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport tires... it's a lot of bang for the buck. The models shipping since November have also been free of the early paint/moonroof issues that some experienced.

But like others have suggested, think carefully about this. If you are really worried about the misshifting issues, why not look at a Celica GT? Weighing in at less than 2600lb., the car's 140HP is more than competent!

The Sentra SE-R Spec-V is more than competent, but it's terribly plain from any angle except dead-on. If you love Autocross, etc, it might be the perfect car for you though, but like the Tiburon it's had a few problems of its own in its early infancy.

But whatever you do, do some research... visit some boards, and DRIVE SOME CARS! :) Good luck.

if you have a chance to replace the Celica, don't do it with any of the cars mentioned above.

Get a RSX Type S.

At least then you would still be on the same level instead of going a step or two down.

people have misshifted as well in the rsx-type S.

i dont see the mazdaspeed as a step down. its a better handler, about as fast (more torque than gts) and more exclusivity.

the rsx type S is basically the same car with soem more aftermarket. they are about as close as 2 competing cars can get in the market.

if it was me, i'd mix it up, but if u like the way ur 6-spd 4-banger feels, and u want a car much like ur old celi in all her glory, type S would do, but its so similar i'd get bored.

only one way to see. test drive test drive test drive.

dont' turn to the dark side... stay with the Celica. If you're looking for some FI, the WC kit WILL be out for like 3k? BUT, if you really want to change cars... atleast go to an RSX or an se-r.

Yes.. i need to test drive.
If anything.. I'll miss the feeling of LIFT.. a minature N/A turbo. hehe
but then again.. I am comparing my GT-S to a Tib. Turbo charged. It'll be my first boosted car.. if i go that way.

But I do agree with you guys definetly.. would be a step down. givin up quality for warranty..

gotta look for a hyundai deal first! they are like non-existant.
Also wanna test drive mazda6.
and neon turbo JUST for ****s n giggles... buyin it hasnt even crossed my mind.

Why dont you go check out the Z? the base model is like...26 grand..and its definetly NOT a step down..or a wrx...that has a turbo. the new model is comin out soon right? with a couple of cosmetic changes?

I'd look at a s2000 too. or if u wait a little bit and if u can afford it go for a rx8 or a sti. i think those would definately be a step up.

I just read somewhere in sport compact car that puting a turbo in the V6 was a pain, and that they are harder to tune than they expected. Apex-i came out with a turbo kit but for the 4 cylinder an not the 6. I say dont waste your money on anything for a couple months, dont even eat or pay rent if you have just live on the street.....and buy a 350Z. I think its the biggest head turner.

After visiting the Tib board and reading a lot about it from the owners, I can't honestly say I see the Tib as an upgrade in any category other than the warranty. I'd rather not downgrade nor buy a car that requires a good warranty. Whether or not the Celica is in the required warranty category is up to you. But you'd definitely take a performance hit. A turbo is not going to give much overall performance on a Tib. The chassis and suspension are still going to be question marks.

While there have bene people who have had problems with the new tib, the majority of us have not. There isnt a turbo available for the v-6 yet, but there is a supercharger from alpine. Dyno's show it increases HP and TQ by 50 each. And the kit is only about 2700 I believe. I say dont listen to what anyone else tells you. Go drive it, if you like it, buy it, if you dont, keep looking till you find something you like. I love my tib. Handling is awesome, and performance is nice. The tib also responds really well to mods. A guy I know just put new headers on and says its probably the best mod for the money, next to the SC anyway.

since ur still under warranty..go take ur car to ur local dealer n get ur transmission or clutch fixed.. rattling noise from tha engine bay is very normal.. u should fix ur car first n get a wrx..

the new tibby definately looks sweet, and theres a thread going on saying that the tib can run mid 14s with an exhaust and intake, thats the same as the gt-s.

But then again, it could never handle like a celica, and the interior is ghetto 1988 style. Probably won't last or hold it's value as well.

alpine has that supercharger for the v6 btw.. but it still is a hyundai...

Id stay away from the Tib, but just get a new celica with HIDs and sh*t or if U really dont want to get a celica but want an import get an RSX.....

If u want to stop playing around and get a car with real potential without breaking the bank...98 carmaro SS, low low 13's(rumored 12's all motor on the 6speed), Super strong stock motor and just a little bottle away from 11's with slicks.......
