NX or NOS brand? I have a NX kit but a NOS bottle. I was wondering if either will work? I think they both do, and which ones better because Ive looked and NX seems more expensive.
Thanks

NX really opens/closes the bottle, and NOS is a solenoid. Both will work.

how does a remote bottle opener work anyways? Is there a button that you push that runs a motor to twist the valve open. I'm assuming the NOS one, which is a solenoid, means that the nitrous is running through the lines but does engage until you tell it too. What's the purpose of that when you have a WOT solenoid as well that does the same thing?

The NX bottle opener is a little motor that opens the valve on your bottle. The NOS bottle opener is a solenoid that is designed to stay open (regular nitrous solenoids will burn the coil if it stays open for more than a minute). The NOS opener connects at the bottle before your lines, but after the valve. Both will open from a switch on your dash.

i heard that without the remote bottle opener, you have to open your trunk and turn it on by yourself when you want to use it(correct me if i'm wrong, i'm still learning). but when you have the remote bottle opener, there is a switch that you can just push it while you are driving?

As much as I used to want the remote bottle opener you have to admit it is funny pulling up to a light and getting revved out, so you get out of the car, run to your trunk, open the bottle and run back into the car and then purge :)

what is purging, is that releasing excess pressure, and there is a pressure gauge but what happens when it's low/high, does it happen often? I know you use a bottle heater to increase the pressure and flow of the nitrous, correct?

it's not for pressure... when you keep nitrous in your lines for a time it turns into its gaseous form (from it's liquid form of course) and this isn't the best for nitrous performance. So, you purge, which releases the gaseous nitrous and allow fresh nitrous to fill the lines.

IM GETTING A NOS BOTTLE OPENER

I've already got the NX opener operating in my setup. There is one catch...so just keep this in mind. It is a kickass idea, but the problem lies in the fact that when you open or close the bottle the only way you can tell when it is fully open or fully closed is when the tone of the motor in the opener changes. It is usually higher pitched while turning and then drops to a lower pitch once it isn't turning anymore. Herein lies the problem. Sometimes I find that if i do not release the button immediately upon hearing the tone change, the opener actually turns it tight enought that when you go to reverse the valve (open/close it) there is not enough initial torque to budge the valve. so you just hear a lower tone and you have to get out anyways and turn it...I had to drill a small hole in the part that turns the valve(you take off the knob). So i just insert an a small phillips or allen wrench and turn it 1/8 inches and then the opener can work from there...Kinda annoying but you get used to how long to hold it down.

Hope that helps.

I would def. go with the NX over NOS, bec. inevitably, you are going to have SOME leak somewhere and while this is good to allow natural purging of the lines AFTER use (to relieve stress on the lines) it isn't good if you are running around all day long with your bottle opened and the NOS celenoid off, bec. it COULD be leaking at that point, so you waste the juice, and that is bad.

Peace,

J

P.S. The NX opener is more fun to install too...takes longer you have more **** to mess with and it is PROB. a lil more frustrating, so i would def. go with NX ;)
