Miss Shift Question!!! ... Need Help------>

Ok, so I was 'kinda' racing my friend... (I say kinda because it wasn't like a whole from the start thing... he passed me so I accelerated) and as i was shifting from 3rd to 4th my RPM's sky rocketed to red line bad. My first thought... "MISS SHIFT...FU*K" On my dash the e-brake light, battery and cel came on. I pulled into the first street near by and pop the hood. No smoke or any clicking sounds. One of the bands was broken however (the one for the alternator i think). Then I got back in my car, turned it off... then back on and tried to go to see if it would run. It did... however I smelled something really quick so I stopped. I think what I was smelling was clutch. Right then I said to myself.. hell no im not moving it, so I called my dad up and he helped me tow it, which was freakin' hard since I have a body kit. Anyway.... the car moves (somewhat... smell) the engine turns on and off like it was normal, just a weird small sound that i hear when I put it in gear.

What do you guys think? Blown engine? Blown Clutch? I'm getting it checked tomorrow... but I was wondering what u all thought about it.

Oh and by the way... my steering wheel is HARD... like I have no power steering or something. I checked it, and there's plenty of fluid. Why??

don't do anything to it, take it to a dealer and tell them you accidentally misshifted while trying to go into 4th and went into 2nd.

it obviously sounds like something's broken.

Oh, and this happened on my 95 eclipse gst ive been building lately not my celi so taking it to the dealer is out of the question. I just want to know what u all think happened. thx!

I think you've over revved the engine causing too much tension on your drive belts.... One of them broke, causing the rest of the problems you're experiencing...

Could be worse though, could have crankwalk :(

Your serpintine belt broke..No power streering, no altertor, no Water pump(it will over heat)..If it starts, it my not be bent valves...but Ive seen some bent valve motors run.Anyway..take it to the dealer

If you replace the belt, youll have power stearing, Power, AC back, but just take it to the dealer

i cant take it to the dealer. this didnt happen on my celica, it happen with my 95 eclipse. There is no dealer to take it to. =/

The dealers name would be "Mitsubishi" and it'll cost you $60 - $100 for a diagnostic on the engine...

Fix the serpentine belt yourself, that way it'll drive right...

I'd take it to Gillman Mitsubishi. It's on I-35 near the south part of town.

edit:

Maybe the smell is from a piece of the belt getting caught somewhere? I'd look into that before taking it somewhere. It definately sounds like the belt broke.
