Hey guys...
Now before you get your panties in a bunch :wtf: I've already posted this in Repair and Maint. Just know that more people go in here than there.
I've got a 2001 GT-S w/47K miles and my sunroof is peeling. I took it Toyota, because I had the Extended Warranty 75K/6yr and I was denied coverage for the replacement of the sunroof. The car was purchased in November of 2000, and is just a little over two physical years old. Now, my dealership said they will "goodwill" the replacement part, but I've gotta do labor which is about 200 bucks out of the almost 500 dollar bill. I can't have them pay for the part and do the labor myself, I already asked that.
I am wondering that since I have seen people complain about the sunroof, if I can get the number to Toyota of America and open a claim and see what they say? And also find out if you got yours replaced too.
Also if you have any input I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Chris

Mine is doing that too, looks like ass. I haven't really worried about it too much though.

try taking it to another dealer? or does it have to be the dealer u purchased the extended warranty from?
what do u mean by peeling sunroof? can you post pics? I know my roofline from the inside of the car is turning brown but i don't know what the heck thats coming from

I'll take pics to show you what the problem is and I've only taken it to the dealer where I got the car, so I don't know if any other place will take the warranty (I assume they would).
Chris
mine is doing that too. It doesn't bother me though because i only see it when i wash the car and I don't see it looking through it from the inside.
It looks like tint peeling from the outside.

If you have an extended warrenty, why won't they cover it?
I just got mine replaced a couple weeks ago. It wasn't obviously peeling it just had numerous very slight "cracks" all over it. It makes it look like it has glitter all over it. I believe it was heat stress factures in the plastic. Anyway, dealer 1, crap bags, said that "We can't replace it unless it's cracked." :wtf: Dealer 2 said, "No problem, we will just report that it was delaminating."
Mine was under the 3yr - 36k. It looks a LOT better. Crystal clear w/ good color.
i'm gonna get my belt tensioner replaced anyways. i might as well ask about the moonroof too

I have only EVER used soap and water to wash my car and dried with a natural chamios and mine has fine little cracks all over it.
I'm gonna go in and attempt to get it replaced, but what's to stop it from happening again, out of warranty.
Maybe some kind of clear UV protective film applied when new would help keep the plastic from cooking. Just an idea :)
