WTF? I got the Celi because I feel in love with it in '99 and Honda has disappointed me with their new lineup. BTW I have an

Fuel overflow is caused by the pump you are using. I had it happen to me the other day and it seems to be caused by those idiots at the gas station who keep pumping gas after the nozzle clicks telling them to stop. Always messes up the clicking thing for the next person.

You sure? I've filled up 12x already and it does it every single time.......It just does not stop flowing......Diff gas stations too.

Slava,
People have already talked about this, I even believe there is a TSB on it already. If not, Toyota corporate knows about it. Apparently there is a clip that has broken and fallen into the tank, and it is what should be turning off the gas.
Do a search for it.

Turn the hose end of the pump in the direction of the end of your car and the problem might stop..............

Maybe you got a lemon? I've got 4700 miles so far on my celica and changed the oil 3 times already. Yeah I know. Car still looks new, smells new and performance seems to be getting better everyday. I never had gas overflow problems EVER and I fill it up 3 outta 4 times, it always clicks and stops. I have tried 76, Shell, and Chevron and none ever gave me problems.

the word around here is that it is 2002 models that have the gas prob...but since you have an 03 maybe its a prob with those too. Whatever it is, its a major phucking pain in the asshole. Dealership never wants to admit that something is wrong...they never seem to find a problem.. I could shove the gas pump up their azzes and they wouldn't see a problem then either...

The tinting on my sunroof peeled, however I believe this was a problem on several Ceilcas. Dont sweat it, just take it to the dealer and they will fix it. Almost every new car has its quirks, ya just have to fix them before the warranty is up.

TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP! There is something wrong. Mine did it too- they installed a NEW GAS TANK, and the problem was GONE!

Bring a write up of the service bulletins with you. They will try to bs you so they don't have to fix it. I took mine in for the belt tensioner and they said they didnt find anything wrong and wanted to charge me labor for it. i said hell no. Now the bumper to bumper is up and I can't get it fixed. They suck. The best dealerships are for domestic cars. They wash your car and everything

Yes, the problem with your gas tank over flowing is with the gas tank. It is a known issue this Toyota, take a service bulletin in with you and they should replace the gas tank.
My 2cents: Up here in Canada when ever I take my Celi in to Toyota dealler to get great serviced I get great service, car wash and got a free snow brush.
Thanks, I like your guys/girls site!!! Keep up the good work ;O)

I never completely fill my gas tank...I have 2002 but I just put in 5 bucks at a time to keep the weight down. However, when I hit the highway I do fill up all the way and no problems with overspill yet.

:werd: A full tank only makes you slower. I've never had overflow the few times I have filled mine up all the way.
