HI!!!
So WHat you guys preffer for the 2ZZGE engine???
a LIghtweight flywheel or The Injen CAI???
I want all your advices in a performance point of view,
I need advices to know which of the two is better to spend my money at...
since our tranny makes us accelerate slow I think a flywheel might help, but I want to first read your opinions... thanks!!!

First things first..
Do the CAI right off the bat, its inexpensive, with good performance gains, and you can install it yourself.
As for the lightweight flywheel, I would say wait... save up enough cash to put in a better clutch while youre at it...and maybe even a limited slip differential.

Wait, the INJEN CAI is super expensive, it costs like 260, I prefer saving some 70 bucks more and I can get the Fidanza Flywheel,
and Im thinkingg about getting a Phantom Grip LSD, I dont want a new clutch man, My car it's almost new...
you guys haven't answered my question, I said, What has more gains from a performance point of view? the Fidanza Flywheel or an INjen CAI???

You want to mod your car and think that $260 is super expensive? I'd find a new hobby if I were you. Go buy an X-Box or something.

Oh man...I just don't know what to say here. Go ahead and get your $325 flywheel. When you get the bill for the install of your Phantom Grip and your flywheel, post about it here. There is a guy selling AEM CAI's for the GT-S for $185 right now.

It actually costs like 205 and if u NEED a color to it 225. That is a good deal and a "cheap" mod for a car.
Ya you go save another 70 dollars and get that flywheel. Then take it to a shop and tell them to install it for free. I doubt your goin to be installing it urself. And its sorta waste of money to get the flywheel without gettin a new clutch, cuz then u gotta take it to a shop again and pay them more money to take apart the tranny which was alrdy apart from installing the flywheel.
You asked us what we think u should get first, get a CAI.

pepsiman, please do not state 'facts' so incorrectly as that. the cai should net you roughly 7hp TOPS, not 17...

you're obviously a moron. if you're not gonna listen to what we have to say anyways, why bother posting?
you have no clue how either works and you obviously don't have a grip on reality if you think a cai is 'super expensive' and 'just a pipe with a filter on it'

b) true logical explanation? 'super expensive pipe with filter on' compared to a 'thingie that makes you rev faster' does NOT constitute as a true logical statement

Bro, your explanation is not logical. Your basic understanding of the physical principles behind how all this stuff works is extremely limited. I cannot help you more on this stuff without confusing you worse. You just need to take our word or put in some serious time studying the theory behind all this stuff. Its just like the 230HP UK-spec 2ZZ-GE that you think exists. You're whole logic base is just so far off, there is no good place to start with correcting you.

I just can't possibly explain this to you. The terminology alone would lose you, not to mention the fact that I don't think you could visualize what I'm talking about. I just don't have the patience for that. Do whatever you want and just go with whatever explanation makes sense to YOU. Lord knows the streets are chock full with ricers who do the same thing.

02-07-2003, 01:11 PM
Ok here's something to think about before getting the Flywheel, yes you will rev faster but it's extermely expensive to have installed you are very brave for wanting to install it yourself Ask Larry about ripping the tranny apart. Also you will not hold the revs as well either. meaning it probably won't be easy to land lift on the 1-2 shift. CAI much better performance for the money.
TakumaSato
02-07-2003, 01:14 PM
It wasn't with you Jessen IL, I respect you a lot!
you know how to explain yourself, Man, I said that just as a Sacarsm... Ofcourse it's not a stupid pipe with a filter in it, I know it's a tested intake manifold pipe that has a good air flow... and a lot of research studying by the injen engineers and stuff...

Actually, it's not an intake manifold pipe...that's the part connected to your throttle body, which in turn connects to your intake, which is where the air is ingested into the engine for combustion.
Anyway, just a flywheel by itself will not increase performance much. A CAI will provide a noticeable gain in power, as will exhaust.
A CAI can be had for under $200. Trust me, you'll wonder how you've lived without one, once it's installed...
Usman
TakumaSato
02-07-2003, 01:44 PM
well remmember english is not my native tongue, I know it's not the Intake manifold... it's a cold air intake connected to the throttle body that then it gets connected to the intake manifold where goes to each intake valve...

What idiot would even consider changing a flywheel without going with a new clutch at the same time?
Jesse IL
02-07-2003, 02:32 PM
A lightweight flywheel will affect your acceleration in the same way that a set of lightweight wheels will help your car. There is less rotating mass so it takes less energy to accelerate it. The tradeoff to a lightweight flywheel is that the weight of the flywheel is used to store energy that can be transfered to the wheels when you take off. If you hold the RPM at say 4000 with the clutch in and then let out the clutch without changing the gas, what happens? The RPM drops. The heavier your flywheel, the less your RPM would drop. With a lightweight flywheel, this problem of dropping rpm becomes worse. It can become very difficult to launch a car smoothly and quickly with a lightweight flywheel. Many people with lightweight flywheels need to "dump" the clutch just to keep engine rpm up, or slip the clutch quite a bit. Lightweight clutches are useful on racecars where you might only take off from a dead stop a few times per race. Lightweight flywheels will be hard for the average person to drive consistently on a drag strip. You may end up being slower due to difficulties at the start. A cold air intake is a solid 10HP gain, and will make a noticeable improvement in your 1/4 mile times.

This thead is just fukin hilarious...dude..get a grip. This is a CAR. Not a damn tonka truck. You can't just do random mods to your car and expect results. EXAMPLES:
You get an exhaust, then it will work better w/ the CAI
You get a Turbo, then it will work better w/ an intercooler
You get a Lightweight fly wheel, it will work better w/ that clutch
Don't do random sh!t to your car...you will regret it. Stick around this board, *change your name first* and just ask for help and accept criticism. We can all help you, and vice versa. I came here just like you...now I wish i had it all to do over again.
Before you mod, research, and ask around.
