Running from cops

Today i was going to work, still dark outside. Radar goes off, i got a cop behind me. He turns on his HIGH powered light thingy, to check out my licence plates, i see him typing on his computer from my rearview mirror. The bastard follows me for about 1 mile and half and turns on his light. I knowing i didnt do anything wrong, i get real pissed off coz i know im gonna get arrested for driving on a suspended licence ( i know .. STUPID! no flames plz)
So for the first time, it actually went through my mind to make a run for it, but no balls to back up that thought.
Then I pull over, he asks for licence and insurance. and i ask him "whats the problem officer" , " just routine check, young guy w/ sports car, i figured id stop u to make sure everything was ok"
im thinking , what an a$$ of a cop.... so i go to the police station. pay the bond and get out.

what im wondering is If anybody here ran from the cops b4, and would like to share their story (if successfull or not). or anybody whos actually also thought about it??

Its dark at night, the Cop is behind you shining a high power light (Super Highbeam) at your car.

You can see him typing on the computer to do a check on you?

If your going to run from the cops you need to do it before he is on your ass running your plates. That cop knew you had a suspended licence before he pulled you over because they need probable cause to pull you over.

As for a story heres a small one...
Its like 3am and Im comming home from a girls house who lives like 30 minutes from me and this blue mustang flys by me going at least 60 in a 35 and im thinking "Man Im borded, lests have some fun" So I gun it and it get up next him. So were flying down this 2 lane country looking road doing 70MPH in the dead of night. And right before I reach my turn I see a cop sitting off to the side of the road behind some bushes. So what to I do. I speed up and fly pass him. As I check my mirror I can see him turn on his lights but we got a big jump on him. As we came up over the hill we came to fork in the road. The mustang went left and I went right(I was going that way anyway) I knew I wasnt going to outrun him so when I saw a driveway off to the right I took it. It was a gravel drive way to someones house and when i made my turn I drifted in the gravel. It was badass. So I continue up the driveway and park in there grass and jump out of the car. Just as Im able to calm down i see the cop comming down the street with his big ass search light on. Luckly he flew right by. I thought It would be smart to sit there for a bit then I went home.

If he ran your plates before he pulled you over and for no reason other than you're a young guy, you can sue the police dept. for profiling. Even if your license was suspended it is illegal for him to do that.
This is what my dad told me. He works for Atlanta PD.

i dont blame you for driving with a suspended license. i had mine suspended for 3 months, and i drove every single day of those 3 months. what got my license suspended was the exact same thing that got you pulled over. You had a nice celica. i wouldnt have gotten pulled over if i was driving my 94 sentra. I was doing like 55mph in a 45mph. Wow, i'm breaking the sound barrier now. Its very f-ed up, but it happens. hope everything goes well. Your license will be suspended even longer now. Drive a geo metro for a few months.

Yeah Ive driven w/suspended license too. They impound your car and youll have to pay to get your license back. Hope you have some generous f+++ing parents.

One Time I saw this cop at like 3am as i was driving home from work. My car was uninsured and my tags were expired. He was a few car lengths behind me and i had a Lowered Integra. I was like f+++ im screwed. My turn came up and as i Turned there was an entrance to a Apt Complex right after the turn. I turned right into the complex but the entrance gate kept me from going more than up the curb. I turned off my lights and i saw him go fast around the corner and down the hill. I crept home later and had to park my car outside my house. The next day my aunt told me a bunch of cops were checking out my car later that night...BUSTERS!

You got a ticket for 10 over and they suspended your license? What happened prior to that?

Ran from cops once. nasty, nasty deal..made local newspapers. 15 or 16 lights, 3 roadblocks..excessive speeding..55miles later ran out of gas...long story short.... Jail time!

I'd much rather hide now if possible.

Not that I ever break the law. (I try not to in the county I live in now)

If I were pulled over now (i also have mine suspended) and the cop told me that I would have simply told him that he wasn't going to see my license because he pulled me over for no reason. And I would have left... simple as that My mom's bf did that the other day without showing the cop any identification....

*Story Begin*


I was coming home from a long day at work. I think it was a Wednesday night and there wasn't too much traffic on the highway at 11 o'clock at night. My girlfriend called me previously at work and said that she wanted to come over and I told her that I would see her at my house around 10:30. Well I'm about halfway home and its 11 o'clock. I was going about 65mph in a posted 55mph, I was pretty much going with the other traffic.

I'm passing my the route 1 to route 128 off ramp (I'm on 128) and there was this unmarked Taurus that pulled right next to me (he got on 128 from route 1 and pulled over right next to me, passing through 3 lanes all at once!) So we are going the same speed-limited, and I thought it was some kid and his friends that were coming home early from a night-club or something. He gets behind me (I'm in my 300ZX) and is litterally on my ass. There was about 2 or 3 inches of play between the rear of the Z and front of this Taurus. Anway, I move over one lane, thinking that he'd pass me. He pulls behind me, still on my butt. I pull over into the next right lane, he does the same thing. I pull over into the "travelling lane" the far right lane, and he does the same thing. So I'm moving around 60mph with this d**khead not observing my privilage to drive on the highway. I let him stay on my ass for about 3 miles, which seemed like forever. I couldn't even see the headlights in my rearview he was that close.

I was thinking, "Okay, if this was a cop, then he would've pulled me over a long time ago, this guy has been on my ass and I tried to let him go around me like 4 times." I drop from 5th gear into 3rd going about 65mph, and pull all the way into 100+ and shift into 4th, the engine screems to 120mph @ around 5500rpms, and then I make it into 5th gear and pull into the 140+ (I really don't want to tell you how fast I was going!). I passed only three or four cars that weren't even in the lane next to me.

I slow down into the 60mph zone about 10 miles up. After about 2 or 3 minues I see what I think is that Taurus behind me. It was. It took him a good 3 or 4 minutes to catch up. He pulls right up on me again, the same story, his front nose in the ass of my Z. And then, he turns on some interior blue lights. I was like "F**k!! I can't believe this. This guy was egging me on and then he wants to pull me over." I'm not a "law-breaker" per say, so I pull over on the next off ramp into Peabody.

I keep my cool, and I did everything that they tell you to do if you get pulled over in Driving School. I have my two hands out the window, the car off, the hazard lights on. A off-duty State Police Trooper casually walks up to my side.

Cop: What speed did you hit before you decided so slow down?
Me: Eh, I'm guessing about 120mph.
Cop: I think that you might have been going a little bit faster.
Me: I don't know. I thought that you were a punk that was on my ass and just wanted to start some s**t.
Cop: Sure, (he checks out everything on my car, the lights, inspection sticker, tint). What's up with this exhaust. Do you have cats?
Me: Yes. That exhaust was imported from Japan, and its a cat-back system, the stock cats are there.
Cop: I thought I was going to have a pursuit there for a second. I'm kind of glad that you stopped. I didn't think that I was going to catch up to there!
Me: Again, I'm really sorry for the trouble and misunderstanding.
Cop: I was about to call out the State Police Corvette on you.
Me: Sir, I'm very sorry, I honestly thought that you were a punk kid that was going to start trouble. This Z obvously gets a lot of negative attention. I'm very sorry.
Cop: You know that I could arrest you right now for about 5 or 6 different offenses?
Me: Yes officer, I do understand that. I never did this before in my life, and I never will again.
Cop: Make a guess to what the fines alone would be.
Me: I'm guessing something like $500 or $600 plus jail time.
Cop: Close, about $850 in fines plus jail time. You got the jail-time right.
Me: Sir, honestly, I'm very sorry.
Cop: Don't be sorry to me, pal. - But its getting late and I believe it or not I believe your story (about you thinking that it wasn't a cop behind you.) I'll make a deal with you.
Me: Sure, anything, please, I can't afford that type of fine plus jail time.
Cop: If you don't tell any of your friends that a Massachusetts State Lieutenant let you off, I'll let you go.
Me: I shook hands with him and said "deal".

- I dusted a State Police officer going about 140mph down route 128, and I didn't even get a written warning.

just the other night(saturday night) me and my friendz( all got v-dubz) were chilling and we met up w/ a maxima crew. so we dicided to go to a spot were we can have some fun. As we came to a dead road at that time of night (around 1.30am) we started hiting 100+ easy. Just as all of us were cruzin' around a 100 we get two way'd on a nextel saying that cops were behind us at a distance. So all cars (10-15) decide to bounce. we all went our different ways. me and another max pulled in a dead parking lot and shut off our lights. i got out of the car and took my licence plates off. as i got into the car a D.T spoted us and chased us. well the D.T caught up to me and he was on the side of me. so i slowed up and let him catch up next to me. when he was at my back wheel, i down shifted and reduce my speed almost 1/2 (yes u can do that). so this way he doesn't see my break lights and he slow donw too. He flyes right by me cuz he did not realize i slowed down (cuz he didn't see the break lights). we all met up at a micky D'z and only 2 of us got caught. Those 2 got dismissied cuz their uncle is a retired D.T.

Yeah I ran from the cops ONCE and wouldn't you know it? the very first night I get my Celica, and no I'm not lying here. I bought my car around noon that day and I tried to go to sleep that night, but my brand new baby was outside so I decided to take her out for a nice cruise. Well I hit up 355 in Rockville, MD(where the Friendly's is) just to drive around when I come across an Si(stock looking, no mods I could see) and I only had 87 miles on it(my car) so far(break-in period is like 1000 right?) and I said what the hell....we finally catch a redlight and I look over and the guy doesn't look like he wants to race, so I leave the line normally...well about two minutes later he gets right next to me and revs and guns it...(i was thinking MY VERY FIRST RACE! AWESOME!) and I follow after him. we get up to about 85(in a 45) and I see two cops sitting on the side of the road(OH SH!T!!!!!!!!!) but instead of slowing down I stay on it, I see one of them turn on their lights and pull out...we hit the next light and I swear I'm taking the turn to go right onto I-270 at about 50mph which is just a LITTLE too fast! The Si stays at the light and I am gunning it up the road so fast I didn't care how fast I was going. I made it onto I-270 without the cop seeing me. As for what happened to the Si? I don't know....but I felt good and scared on the drive home. It was a real rush!!!!!!!!:eek:

Only time I'd ever do that again is if I were on the beltway or interstate doing over 100mph.... and saw a cop on the side of the road.

btw, what would you guys do in that situation???? if you got caught doing 120+ and you saw a cop on the side of the road? would you gun it(OF COURSE YOU WOULD!) and take the next exit or the one after?? you have to think the cop would think you're taking the next exit and follow...but you run the risk of being seen if you don't...interesting ain't it?:D

Typical weekend night crusing with some mates. About 15 cars in all decide to go for some drags at a section of road in a industrial area. (Midnight, light rain in a industrial section 20 mins from the city.) Cops sometimes patrol the area because its a known local drag spot. (not hard to miss with all the burnouts rubber marks on the road and spray painted start line for racing.

First to line up was me and a Buddy in a 1.8 VTEC Honda Integra VTiR (160Hp) He had exhaust and air filter. We decide to go from a rolling start at 20km/h. We count down from 3-2-1 then go. I got massive wheelspin in the wet conditions and the engine was bogging becasue of it as well. So end up losing by one car length to 100km/h. I was pissed off that I lost, but I cound'nt get any decent traction and had to let off the throttle in the wet during the run.

We slow down and turn around for a second run. This time we do a rolling start at 40km/h. Rain is starting to increase so you had to start to look out for puddles in the road and had to have your wipers on. Get good gear changes and got better traction and won by a car length.

As we were just coasting to slow down I see a set of lights turn on the street. First thought was someones just going to work or something. Then the lights turn on for the blue and red and the sirens turn on. Damn, its a cop. Both duoble clutch back to third and speed up I was behind the Integra following him. Cops get closer (5 car lenghts) so I decide to pull over and take the fine on the chin. Then I look ahaed and my friend decides to do a runner, I pull over and the cop flies past me going after my firend. I quickly turn Back and got the hell out of there. All of the others guys did the same.

Got home and got a call to find out that the Integra cliped a curb on a turn a F*(;Ked up his car. And had swapped with his GF in the passenger seat because he was driving with a suspended licence. Cops cought him. Busted.
In the end his GF had to go to court and took the wrap for the offence. Now thats what I call looking after your man. hehe

I ran from a highway patrol once and got away with it. Where I live there is a river cutting 2 side by side towns in half, and there are 2 bridges crossing that river. (the 2 bridges are about a 1/4 mile apart but run parallel to each other, between the bridges there is a bunch of houses too) Well, I was going from town A towards the lst bridge to town B, right before the bridge there is a curve and a stoplight intersection. I was driving my MR2 at the time, and since it was about 1:00 am i figured what the hell, ill see how fast I can hang this curve (was a 4 lane rd) anyway, I'm cruising around this curve at like 65 in a 25 mph zone, and i see headlights coming the other way halfway thru the curve. So I take a better look at it and see lights on the top, I'm like OH ****! cause I knew it would be a fat fine for going that fast in a hospital zone. So I look in my mirror and sure enough I see his brakelights so im like great, im screwed. well about a second later he was out of sight (because of the curve) and im like ok I have 1 chance to make it outta this, I had no ins. at the time, so I punched it outta that curve, ran the red light at the intersection before the lst bridge (thank god no cars were coming) then hauled ass across town to the other bridge zig-zagging through the streets between the bridges musta ran about 6 stop signs and was flying thru there. Anyway, I made it through that 1/4 mile in what seemed like 20 seconds, maybe a lil longer, and got lucky and caught a green light at the other bridge, hung that turn, and flew over that bridge into town B at like 115 mph :D By that time I was able to settle down a little bit and slow down alot, and cruise into the 2nd town like it was no big deal. The whole thing musta took about 20-30 seconds from when i saw the HP, it was scary but real exciting too.
I dont think I would do that again tho, unless I was real desperate :)
I think about it every now and then, he musta been like WTF? he was right here a second ago :) I seriously doubt he would have thought I would end up that far away that fast from the time he saw me, he prob thought he had a fat fine to hand out that night :D
