Is it small enough to mount in between your steering wheel and your gauges?
Where did you mount yours?
And also how do you like it? AKA was it worth the $400 mother f*cking dollars i just spent on it?
Thanks :D

Instant on is your only threat if you are the only car on the road. When you buy it, it comes with a strategy manual. Practice what it says in the manual and you should never get tickets unless you don't have enough time to slow down (say doing 140MPH and he's running KA band).

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. Car and Driver rated it number 1 this month. How satisfied are you with it, SilverNico?

I will say that it has saved me more than a few times. I love it. I have it mounted (hardwired) under my rearview mirror. It has to see out the windows since that is how it detects radar, front and rear. The arrows on it are priceless... people will tell you that they are dumb and you should just slow down if the thing beeps... those people have never used a V1 for an extended period of time. I'm so used to the V1 that If I get in another car with a regular old crappy radar it annoys the crap out of me because it doesn't tell you anything.
My favorite feature on the V1 is the strength meter. It has a 10 LED meter that lights up according to strength of signal. Compared to most Radars that have 3-4. You can really tell when a signal is close and when it is far away. And when it picks up Laser it is automatically full signal meaning (slow the **** down). Hands down it is probably the best money that I have spent on my car.
I don't know about you but I feel all warm and fuzzy about buying one now :-).

I invested in the remote display. That was def a good investment since I mounted the V1 up high to get the highest line of sight that I could. I also put it halfway behind the rearview mirror, so I can't see the display, but the sensors can see out the windows.
Remember, just because you have a radar detector doesn't mean go balls out and stop looking for cops. This is just a TOOL to help you in your search for the cops on the road. Instead of being totally reliant on your eyes, you now have something else to help you with. And depending on where you live/what roads you drive, it may or may not help you. The instant on is a PITA. You can't do anying about it. They wait till you are on top of them, and zap you. 9 times out of 10, if you are getting hit by instant on, you're gonna be screwed, because they are able to hid more, and just nail you.
But I only find instant on in NY right now, and only from the staties. Everyone else is running Ka. It saved my arse on the Mass pike more times than I can count, and on the GSP as well.
Just make sure you mount it somewhere where you can take it down quickly if you get pulled over. That saved my arse as well. I got pulled over because i was the only one on the jersey turnpike and was late for the Devils game (about a period and a half late... long story, just a dumb arse friend), but i took it down, and just got a warning once i explained the circumstances. However, that was the only time I was pulled over with it.
Just remember what I said, it's just a tool to help you find them earlier, it isn't a license to go balls out all the time. If you look at it that way, you will be pulled over regardless of the detector.
Good luck.

welp, I got her in the mail today. And to my pleasure on my way home it warned me of Ka band with 5 threat level. I slowed from 80 to 70 and then a quarter mile down the road I saw the bastard motorcycle cop sitting there with his radar gun in one hand and something else in the other (possibly a donut?)
At any rate in the first 40 minutes of using it today, it already saved me from a ticket. Now thats kickass and a $400 well spent :P

Mine saved my butt last night. I was doing 50 in a 35 zone. I love how it tells you what direction the threat is coming from.

What mode do you guys use on your v1?
All Bogeys?
Logic?
Advanced Logic?
What are your thoughts on each mode?
Thanks!

I always run mine in "Advanced Logic" mode. Reason my unit (an older one w/o laser) only filters X band. Not sure if the newer models filter more. I suggest you RTFM
SilverNico

So do the newer ones filter more than just the X band? If they don't A/L is the way to go.
