Background:
despite what my sig says, i'm not longer getting the RX-8. well now my gf's mom is selling her '98 MB SLK 230 retractable hardtop for roughly 20G USD (if i buy it).
pros
MB, nicer car
more power (185hp, 195tq)
already reached it's highest depreciation
excellent condition
convertable
cons
tiptronic
5 yrs old
120K on the odo (75 miles)
only 2 seats
maybe higher in insurance
not a lot of mods (although a pulley is good for 30hp/30tq increase)
could be considered a chick car (but then so can the celica)
what do you guys think? what kind of #s does this put out?

but aren't you performanc driven?? if you are looking for comfort and straight line, SLK is not bad(my uncle has one), but if you are a performance person, go for the RX-8!! plus, it's cheaping on parts and maintance!

i was once told that people who like to drive drive bimmers. people who like to be driven drive MB.
i'm going to add one of myself: people who are sane do not reject the rx-8.
IMHO: spend the extra money that would make you happy. if u have to ask about if u should get the car i dont think its the right car for you. you have to want it so bad u can taste it. looks to me like you are "settling" for the SLK cuz its cheaper and u can get it off family. but.. test drive and see how much u like it.
i'd take the rx-8 in a heartbeat though.

lol, ok you're making it REALLY hard on me now!
the RX-8 isn't really an option anymore. it starts off at 36 CDN yes, but by the time you add the features that i wanted, our horrible 15% tax, it's a $50G car.
btw, i'm 23, only 1 yr out of university, and still in debt :D

You will regret getting the BENZ........Unless you are 50 years old and want a car that "FEELS" fast, couse the air is going through your bald head :D
Not a young person car.

ah... university debt. i'm a broke college student myself :D
mite as well stay with the celi. pay off ur debts etc etc. ur car as i remember correctly is kick-ass enough as it is. while i wouldnt say a benz is a step down, its not much of a step up.
think about it: benz: 1 girl. rx-8: 3 girls. FULL SIZED GIRLS. not one full size, 2 smaller ones like the celi.
of course if u had no choice, benz or no car, i'd choose the benz.
gluck on ur decision.

Dude...just keep your car, man...you've got a sweet car...you haven't started parting out, yet, have you?
Just save a bit more money, and go turbo..the Celica is a beautiful car...wait till you can afford the car of your dreams, and then get it.
You'll be much happier...

The MB will get more chicks, since it's a MB. Most chicks don't know anything about cars, only brand names. Trust me, everytime I want to pick them up, I ride w/my dad's SL55 AMG and it never fails. :D

it is a nice car to drive. I borrowed :naughty: my friends while he was at work, and they are decent cars. Love the way they ride. Only problem that i had, was that all the buttons in the car.
