Hey guys, I'm doing some track events and I'm curious about changing my brake pads. How easy is that to do yourself? My friend just popped them out of his 944 and ours seem to be more involved. What does it take to change them yourself? I know I need new pads before I hit the track again and I was wondering how easy they were to change.

I'm also curious on everyone

They're not bad to replace at all. The front calipers come off leaving the pads on the bracket by the rotor and the rear pads come off with the caliper. Be careful on the rear, it's easy for one of the springs to fly off. Happened to me, but I was lucky and found it. There are two retaining springs for the pads, and a spring to retain the pins on the rear caliper assemblies.

Don't forget your C-Clamp to push the pistons back in and have someone watch the reservoir on the master cylinder while you do it so you don't overflow it.

The hard core guys can recommend pads for you, I think they mentioed an autocross set that you would need to change at the track so they last longer. Ugh! I went with Project mu pads front and rear, but if they end up not biting when cold, I'll be switching back to the stock pads.
