Hmmm I don't think it's a transmission problem. It sounds like a engine problem to me. You should take it to the dealer and have it checked out.

The problem is you dont let it warm up, wait a minute or so and try to keep it under 3K

Ya, I bet thats it. Another brilliant post from the performance minded know it all. He didn't say that it was shaking real bad when he was trying to race it. Did you even read the whole post, or just the first sentence? He said that it was shaking in automatic mode, which as long as he is driving normal, will shift at or before 3,000 rpm's. Plus he said that it is shaking while he is coming up to a stop light. Which probably means that he is slowing down don't you think. I guess that you and your performance minded GT probably don't have to stop for red lights though do you. Cause your that damn good.

either the torque converter or check your throttle cable, if it idles a little too high while in gear, it's the throttle cable, and it makes sense. it's like powerbraking very slightly.

i get the vibrating/rumbling thing too. i think a little idle vibration is normal on the gts, but sometimes on my auto, i let off the brake, coast forward an inch or two and slowly reapply the brake, and it stops.

Don't worry about it, the engine is just cold. I got a 80 Corona that does the same thing in the morning. After a bit it has a cold weather feature that kicks up the idling RPM to help bring the engine temp up faster. Once it gets to normal temp though the idle kicks back down and runs fine at stops at the lower RPM. Next time this happens try this, put the car in neutral, hand brake on, and push the gas pedal slowly forward. If you find that when you rev the engine up and the shaking stops, then you have no problem, its just a cold engine. If it doesn't stop, then you should probably have the car looked at. I will try to find out the reason behind the cold weather shaking, but I know the effect is the same as if your cas was just idling too low.

BTW: If I am wrong please don't hurt me Jake :p :shocked :p

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I let my Z warm up for a few minutes during the winter months (if I'm driving during the winter anyway, which I shouldn't be). Anyway, try letting it idle before putting into gear to drive. Let the coollant temp start to rise and then drive. See what happens.

If that doesn't do it, go see a dealer.

Why the hell did you buy an automatic Toyota anyway? Those things are built around manual transmissions. Automatics take way to much away from the engine to the wheels anyway.

Maybe your Celica is mad that it has an automatic transmission and it wanted a six-speed? Did you ever think of that? Just kidding. Try what I said.
