EVO VII coming next spring.

Buddy just sent me an email with press release story. It will be released next spring. And be almost 100% orginal. HP will drop from 275 to 260 due to emisions and intercooler resizing. Rest of the car will remain intact. Also said Subaru is expected to release the STi WRX to counter the release.

Did you all know that the Evolution Series , w/ the exception for the VII .... are actually what the Eclipses are based on. They found the americain market to be more tuned to 2 door coupes a while back, and they decided to change the body for it , and the eclipse was born..... so actually the eclipse gsx is actually the EVO
's, same engines, same turbos..... if im not wrong same chassis as well .... but of corz the new eclipse just totally went the wrong way with no turbo heheh .....but the evoVII lives on....:D

The engine is similar, but the EVO internals are stronger to handle the higher boost. I dunno if the chassis is the same or not, but the drivetrain is different and i doubt the suspension is the same. The lancer can more closely be compared to the EVO chassis wise and even in that case they're very different.

The JDM EVO puts out a little over 300hp. So when they say the US is getting 260hp we're actually losing a lot more than they're leading on to.

no, in Japan all cars sold from the factory must produce no more than 280 hp....including evos......but yes with a little ecu tuning they will push above 300

Veil, that 280 HP thing is a gentlemen's deal between japanese companies but most cars are actually put out more than the claimed 280.

Wait, I'm confused, I thought we were getting the EVO VIII ?? Because I hear all this fuss about the EVOIII being ugly or whatever-anyone have pics of it?

only think we KNOW is that mitsu announced the EVO7 for spring '03. There are rumors that the only 10,000 EVO7s will come over as a limited production run and after that the EVO8 will come over. Who knows. Not much is known about that 8 aside from the fact that it might get a 6spd and the big circle fog lights back.
